I recall reading a post about oil filter replacments to the OEM for the 1200 bandit. But I cannot find it.
I have a 2005 I want to do a oil change and can anyone tell me if there are other MFG that work as well as the OEM. And where they can be purchased.
Thanks

I've used Emgo filters for years with good results. I buy mine at a motorcycle accessory store. Works out to be half of what the dealer charges for "genuine Suzuki" stuff. If you don't have a filter wrench, make life easy and pick one of those up too.

None of the after market filters are rated as good as the suzuki filter, according to several different studies, but some come close for half the price. You can normally find the Wix #51359 at the local auto parts stores and if they dont have it in stock, if they want your business they should be happy to order it. The wix is around $6.00 compared to the $12 suzuki filter.

STP SMO-18. Works great. $5.99 at Autozone, etc.

I'm a convert to the K&N units, for 3 reasons.
1 K&N have been making quality filters both oil and air for many years and are a couple of bucks more than other aftermarket units, but still cheaper than OEM, and having checked out a few race teams bikes, and suprise, suprise, fitted with K&N.
2 No other filter that I have seen is fitted with a 17mm nut on the very front, makes for the easiest removal, and fitting, ever seen.
(warning seems way to many peoples she they have a nut on the front, and tend to over tighten them)
3 For the rider who wants more than just a good filter and looks are also, high on the list, (Like me) They also come in a chrome unit, for a few bucks more. ( and still cheaper than OEM)

+1 used the STP's for 10 years. Also will say that there isn't much to filter out of modern oil anyhow hence the manufacturers only recommending filter replacement every other oil change at the most.

You mean this thread pinned in the 600/1200 FAQ?

I've been using Perf-Form brand filters for several years on my Kawasaki W650 and Bandit 1200.
Oil analysis shows that the filters are doing a good job -- Blackstone Laboratories says to keep using the same filters in their report.
The filter for the Bandit is a J-509 -- you can order online or by phone. Their web site <www.perf-form.com> has contact information.
I usually order 4 at a time as shipping is about $7 regardless of order size. You might ask for a price on a filter wrench as the stock size does NOT fit the Perf-Form filter. I couldn't find a wrench locally and call them up for the correct size -- they had them in stock and shipped quickly.

I usually use the Perf-Form filters, too. Found a wrench that fit it at the local auto parts store though. I've always bought mine thru Holeshot and he's always given me a break on the price shown on the website. (May have helped that I always bought something else at the same time though.)
