Start figuring out what it takes to move to someplace where you won't have to store the bike over the winter.
Rich mistress and/or, new job, new house, that sort of thing.

There is a nice thread under General Tech about winterizing.
The only other thing I would suggest is to reduce preload on fork and shock to minimum.
-
Leave a radio on in the garage so the bike doesn't get lonely?
Sounds like you have it covered....
There are 9 million more things you can do if you're 'anally inclined', but they aren't that important.....
If you've had problems with 'critters' nesting in the bike, you can do some stuff to prevent that, but I guess you'd remember that. :duh:

Winterize? we're supposed to winterize these things, nobody told me that, I just assumed we keep riding. Thank god I live in the south :beers:

I am always worried the rubber on the end of the float needle will dry rot so I have never drained the carbs. But I also continue riding and only stop for a week at a time when snow, sand, and black ice prevent me from riding.

ditto. Suffer through some painfully cold rides or winterize it and miss some good ones when it's nice out? Seems like a lot more upside. Then again, I'm not in the midwest where there are actually seasons.

thank`s for the replies guy`s . i do ride in the winter but it is on my snowmobile ,not the bike

The snowmobilers ride in the summer around here, too... grass drags are pretty popular. A few have showed up at the dunes, too.

What about the beer after you're done!! You can't work on your bike and not have beer afterward!! For shame!

Doesn't the manual say something about completely filling the crankcase with oil? I'm still riding a bit when weather allows, but will be winterizeing soon myself, and was wondering if anyone does this. If so I would imagine any weight would do, and cheap oil would be fine, since it would be drained in the spring?

Bandits are cold natured. I recommend a soft blankie to keep her warm when you can't be there to cuddle her yourself.

Only 2 things I would add...
1. If the bike is garaged, don't cover it with plastic of any kind - the moisture will build up underneath and oxidize parts of the bike. I just use an old bedsheet to cover mine.
2. I wouldn't drain the float bowls - I tend to agree with the philosophy that it might cause rubber parts to get dry rot. As long as you have stabil in there, you'll be fine.

ok this was an easy fix i just put it on prime for a min and they all have fuel back in them now . thank`s guy`s

All folks in the area's where freezing temps occur! Make sure the drain hose isn't kinked!! A drain under your fill lid runs thru the tank and out the bottom (rear right side) If hose won't let water out and it freezes vent tube will crack and fuel will leak when it thaws! Most wash the bike before storage so make sure its open!! :beers:
