B12 upgrade (from B6)
« on: November 23, 2006, 03:19:04 PM »
Just bought a 2001 B12 on Ebay.  Had a B6 for last 3 years and have been happy with is - wanted more performance though.  New bike is the naked version, comes with flyscreen, pipe, stage II, braided lines, 8500 miles.  Pretty happy on deal...really looking forward to picking it up this weekend!!

Thought that was you when I saw the other post - I figured nobody was going to bid all on the bike as there were no bids heading into Wed night - my bid was $3250 - seems like a good price - we'll see.

I am a little concerned about how the flyscreen will deflect the wind...I do a fair amount of highway riding...we'll see, hopefully it won't be too bad, else I will be looking for a faired one.

I have a flyscreen on my B12 and it helps most of my upper body.

By any chance did you ask him for the vin or anything?   I asked a few questions the last day, and didnt get any response??   I had actually raised my bid, but then retracted it with a few hours left.   Seems like a good deal.   Let us know how it works out.

Im not sure if the flyscreen is for use with the light that is on there(twin smaller lights)........maybe for use with the stock light??   If you take that light off and go with a fairing let me know.

Chris,
I did ask for the  VIN, but not until Friday (bidding was closed)...you mean for the oil smokers?  I asked about that, he was unsure but said it did not  burn oil.  I will admit I hung myself out a little here...we'll see - I assume the original owner had the pistons replaced IF it was a smoker, since he obviously knew a thing or two about Bandits (with the stage II mod, etc.)...again, going on assumptions here.  If it burns oil, I told myself I can buy the 1216 pistons and install them (consolation).  Just got the bike home (trailered it) - no time to ride now (family responsibilities).  But it sure has more poke than the B6.  Overall, I am pleased. The bike does look good in person.  The smoke screen that came with could be used with the double headlights...but I plan to convert back to one, add the HS screen and Napolean mirrors (bar ends are OK would like the standard ones).  Tires were made in 2000, and are the Macadams...they have tread left, but really need to be replaced now.
