Newbie here and mighty excited because I got my BRAND NEW 650 BANDIT today at a great price!! Then went out for four different rides, even though the temperature was below zero here in the frigid north. supposed to be plus 8 C tomorrow so should have lots of time to ride then.
I'm 46 and just got back into biking a couple of years ago when I bought an old cruiser off a friend. It was a 1988 with 31 hp. so the bandit is remarkably different. I find the fairing protects me more than I would have thought, especially my knees and fingers. The handling is great, quite a step up from a cruiser. Only negative I can think of is the seat seems really hard but maybe it will just take me a while to get used to it?
Dealer told me he had a ton of black and red ones in stock so I angsted for a couple of days and decided on the black - turns out they were all gone so I got a red one. I like it, anyway, and it seems to me that people are seeing me already a lot better than they were on my old cruiser.
Anyway, love the site!
Jim
Me, my bike and my trailer (I hope to get up enough nerve to get it off the trailer in a couple of months!)------

Welcome Jim,
We expect a full report on that 650 in the near future. I bet you will enjoy it greatly.

recently too i've obtained a brand new used... ok well hardly used anyway 97 1200s alot different than the 750 no power virago i once had. put 400+ miles on it the first day i got it home.. then the rest of the weekend was snow and rain :crybaby:
-
Hey welcome! The Red ones are the fastest, best looking, and only owned by the best all around riders/people! Don't believe me just ask Red01! Congrats on finding the sanctity of riding again! :beers:  PS i only managed to put 375 miles on my new one! and its been a month, 85 to 90 deg, clear with no rain! Whats my problem?
-
Thanks, guys. Brian - people have been asking me what it's like going from an old fart of a thing to a brand new Bandit. nearest thing I can say is it's like trading in an older vw beetle for a porsche!
Just love the handling - I end up grinning all the time.
Joker - I wanted to pick the bike up friday and ride it home but a huge snowstorm put the kibash on that one. i really think I have to move to texas - I'm getting really tired of riding for seven months of the year.
-
Come on down the weathers great. It like 60F here right now, we had a nice 80F day. I got to ride year round on and off.
-
Awesome shots, Daytona.
How do you like the corbin? Hey! What that's chrome doohickey under your seat?
Ant: I'm heading down there on my bike this summer! Will I fry or what??

the chrome thinga mo bob unner his seat in the front is the air filter housing... the chrome looking thing unner the back of his seat is a carbon fiber clear i believe turn signal thats if your refering to the 97 i believe with the corbin strapped to it

:congrats: The weather here has been staying on the cool side too.But this coming week should have a few good days for our area of the world.
Nothing like a good handling bike to put a smile on!If you can come on down, check out our Bandit Track day in July. Dan
-
Thanks, Dan...I'll look into it. People keep telling me to get onto a track and you can learn tons in just a few minutes. My brother-in-law says 10 laps and you're exhausted because you just don't realize how hard you're working when on a bike!
Joker - I've got no chrome whatsoever on my 2006! It's all been painted black. Only chrome is the pipes!
Weird how the Bandit has made me a better rider by 3 or 4X at least! Jeez, it feels great! This is one awesome machine!
7 below Celsius here this morning - carry the one.....times it by three....that's about 19 degrees F!!! Had to scrape the frost off the bike but went out anyway and it started up okay. That fairing seems to keep a lot of the wind off so I actually wasn't too cold for just a short run!

I hope your new Bandit doesn't see any more trailer time... that's just wrong.

Hey good choice of a place to visit! and a good time of the year (unless a hurry is in town)! The daytona area stays about 80ish during the summer, go west just a few miles it can be 20* worse , the same during the winter! Its the ocean that helps. Any one of you comin by give me a shout! :beers:
-
Congrats on the newest Generation of Bandits.
Trailering is only forgiveable on the maiden voyage from the dealer of seller. Its the only time my 3 bikes have been on a truck or trailer, matter of fact when i went to NJ to pick up my Honda the guy hung a sign on the side of the bike before I left that said "Don't think bad of me I just bought it"

Trailering is only forgiveable on the maiden voyage from the dealer of seller.
Only if:
The weather/road conditions are nasty
You're buying a non-runner
It's not street-legal
That's what friends are for - to give you a ride to the place where your new bike is.

JIM
I dunno maybe

You guys have probably heard this a million times but the bandit's looks make my knees go weak, except for the friggin' stickers all over everything!! Can I just take them off with a hair dryer or is that clearcoat all over everything?
vrooom! vrooom!
-
ALL the stickers come off with a little heat excpet for the "SUZUKI" on the tank, that's under clearcoat. Not sure about the "S" on the tank of the newer ones - is it a stick-on badge?
-
Thanks - I'll check it out but I think it's under the clearcoat.
