Bandit Brothers and Sisters worldwide I come to you now with my head down in shame asking, NO! Pleading for your forgiveness. For I have sinned against you and your Bandits. In a moment of weakness (actually I was late) I have done what no other Bandit owner would ever think of doing. For four long days now I have lived with the shame and cannot bear to go to B.O.S.S without asking for forgiveness. How can I in good faith park my Bandit that has been desecrated next to your pure and clean Bandits??
Let me set the stage for you. It was Saturday morning. I was getting ready to officiate a bicycle race and was doing the normal pre-ride Bandit checkout. When I noticed that I was just a wee bit low on oil (about a Pint). So I went to the cabinet and what should I find? No oil for the Bandit. I had oil for the truck and Susie’s car. I had plenty of Harley oil for the two Harley’s, but not a drop of bandit oil. I’m running late no time to go to the parts store what do I do ?!?! I start to panic. Time is running out. So I did the unthinkable. I reached into the cabinet and pulled out a bottle of – dare I say it – YES I HAVE SINNED !!!!! I PUT HARLEY OIL IN A BANDIT.
I feel ashamed, naked before you begging for your understanding and forgiveness. And if you feel that my sin is too heinous to be forgiven I shall understand and keep my Bandit away from the rest at B.O.S.S.

I'll forgive you, brother. You've taken the first step and admitted to your problem. :bigok:
I don't know if your Bandit will forgive though. You should immediately drain the oil from the pan, disconnect the lines to the oil cooler and drain it, remove the oil filter and drain it. Hook the lines back up, put the old filter back on and replentish the system with a quart of ATF and top the rest with a fresh NON-HD oil of your choosing (a cheap Wal-Mart brand is OK for this step). Run the engine (but don't ride the bike) for at least 3 but no more than 5 minutes. Then repeat the process above, less the ATF, with a fresh oil filter and some fine Bandit Alley approved slippery stuff. This should rid you of all traces of HD Crude.
Failure to follow this proceedure could result in shrinkage of seals/gaskets causing leakage. It has also been dyno-proven to reduce the rpm capabilty of engines to somewhere around 5000 rpm (+/-1000 rpm) and could lead to running on only two cylinders.
Repent from your sin, brother, before it's too late! :duh:
And always remember, it is better to put cage oil in your Bandit than it is to put H-D oil in it! :winner:
(In fact, many cage oils are BAA - Bandit Alley Approved.)

Thank you Brother Red01 (Paul). I shall take your advice and purge the demon HD oil from my Bandit.
One question. Shouldn’t I use just a little Mr. Clean with the ATF? It will give the engine a lemony fresh scent ??!?!?!?!!?!?

How about flushing the demon oil, then just smoking the back tire a bit ?!?!?!?!

I think the ATF has all the detergent ability you'll need without having to resort to such kitchen practices.
I understand as a HD owner, you may want to resort to kitchen chemicals since many HD are rebuild in kitchens, but that's not BA approved.

I'm not one of those Harley guys that rebuild's his bike in the kitchen. I use the bathroom. It's a lot easier cleaning parts in the tub. And a can of Scrubbing Bubbles can clean a lot of parts. Susie does get mad if I don't clean the tub after I'm done. And Tilex does wonders on white walls. And Windex on the chrome. Yea buddy, you name the household product and I'll tell you what it's good for.

You must have a big bathroom to be able to get the bike in there. :wink:
You must have better seating than the average bathroom, too.

Actually it’s not that bad. The handlebars are just the right size for those extra rolls of toilet paper. You have a place to sit while shaving and brushing your teeth. Susie uses the mirrors and windshield to hang her delicate’s. The saddlebags make great magazine holders so you always have something to read while attending to business. In case the power goes off we always have lights (I’ve changed most of the bulbs to LED’s to cut down on battery drain). And it sure makes one hell-of-a conversation piece !!!!!

Some other things you may want to look out for!
Slow wobbly uncontrollable turns into any parking spot that has a building looking like its condemned, that serves draft in an unwashed mug, graffiti spelt like Red01 wrote it! w/folks dressed in leather stuff (mid summer). Dirt lot, but paved in $7.50 per qt oil!! :duh: Ok i just wanted to keep up with smoothy!

Firstly from me, your forgiven.
Secondly the oil I use, is the same oil, that Motul recommends for Hardly Dangerous's.
Thirdly, when I rebuilt my Hardly ( How many times :duh: ) I at least used the bedroom, hmm little wonder the first minister kicked me out.
Oh but I still laugh when I remember her getting up in the midddle of the night for a wee, and her kicking a shovel head, and braking her toe. :toofunny:

I didn't know Motul was recommended for Harley's. I use their chain lube and am pleased with it. Which is about the only thing I hate about my bandit. Chain maintenance !!!! The oiling, cleaning, oiling, cleaning, adjusting and oiling and cleaning and on and on and on. What a pain !!!!! My Harley's have spoiled me in that area.

It's not that Harley recommends it, it's the Motul type that Motul recommends for HD's. Big difference. :stickpoke:

Funny you should mention that... I did that last night. Gave the old Bandit a good Spring cleaning. Chain guard off, cleaned all the yuck off of everything. Gave it a good washing and waxing and it looks brand new again. Another plus for the Harley and no chain drive. I don't have to take the bike apart to clean it. However (comma) since I bought the Bandit a year ago the Harley spends most of it's time in the garage. I do love riding that Bandit. Nasty chain and all.
