Title: problem with fuel economy
Post by: snofrog on April 20, 2006, 05:50:49 PM: during the week for the commute I usually get mid 40s mpg . but during the weekend I only get in the low to mid 30`s HHHHMmmmmmm :lol:

Post by: Tundrahog on April 20, 2006, 06:50:43 PM: You must turn more corners on the weekend. When the bike is leaned over, the contact radius of the tire decreases, therefore you don't travel as far with each revolution of the tire. Thus lower gas milage. :bigok:

Can you tell I work with a bunch of Engineers? :monkeymoon:

And I do care about my mileage, which is why I've been riding my wife's Ninja 500 to work for the last week. 60 miles round trip at 55mpg compared with around 35mpg for the bandit...about $2 a day in gas, not to mention her tires last twice as long.

I , too, am interested in better mileage. My 650 now has 800 k. on it . at first, i was getting only 185 clicks out of $15 worth of gas! Now, I have settled back a bit with my riding and more clicks have maybe loosened everything up so I get 285! Magazine says 355 and that would suit me fine!

You're lucky you can hop from a bandit to a ninja!

gas milage on the 03 B12 came out to 52 mpg. I was shocked. :-) I'm going to keep checking it though, that just seems too good. LOL

is it 19 liters?? = 5 gallon, is that including the 4.5 liter/1 gallon reserve?

Just curious because my gas mileage is Scary bad... I have never got over 100 miles before switching to reserve.

Post by: txbanditrydr on April 30, 2006, 10:27:01 AM: Recently rolled over 20,000 miles on the Bandit and it seems like it's just now getting broken in. Fuel mileage has stabilized for some strange reason. I could vary widely between 35 - 45 mpg depending on road conditions and riding style. A couple of weeks ago in Arkansas I flogged it real good... tight corners, fast straights, lots of antics that usually get the aforementioned 35 mpg and somehow I ended up at 42 mpg for that tank. I haven't dropped below 40 since. :banana: It really has me thinking that suspension mods are going to take precedence over engine mods.

Yes, the 1G has a 19L or 5 US gallon tank, and that includes reserve.
The 2G has an extra 1L of cpacity, and it's all in the reserve part of the tank.

But now I'm calmer and get 355 or about 210 miles (2006 650 G3) and her mileage is up to 3000km.

I wish. I think thats just my gas mileage.

I guess 25-26 miles per gallon is what my bike gets. Has stage 2 jetting pods and full yoshi exhaust.
course I gun it everywhere, why else be on the bike?
