Title: Reliability and red line
Post by: fake on August 29, 2005, 05:36:48 PM
Not that I plan on going to red line on this bike ever.  I'm just curious as to the strength and durability of these engines (1200) if you go to red line in every gear.

The rev limiter won't let you hurt it.  :bigok:

OTOH, without a change in cams, there's not really much point in going past ~9-9.5K anyway.

The old GSXR1100 was a great endurance racer in its day. The B12 is just a detuned version of this motor with a 1mm larger bore. About as close to a Timex as you can get in a bike.

B12 is pretty solid. LOTS of GSXR1100 based drag bikes out there. Very stout engine, it can take some lumps without crying. Just ride it and don't worry.

Thanks!
I know almost nothing about this bike, so forgive the ignorant posts at times.

One things for sure, this is the best bike I have ever owned!!

A 1200 Bandit was the first Shoot-out bike to run in the 7,s in the quater, Brock Davidison, I believe.
It will take more than most will ever put on it.

I can rev my bike to about 11k, makes no difference, thats 1k over the redline.....only vehicle I've ever seen with a useful 10k rev band 1k - 11k.

Yes, it is street legal... probably not a very practical street bike, but legal nonetheless. Even has to run on DOT approved tires.
