I'm showing my cruiser background but I find the M109 kinda intriguing:

Once the Honda VTX 1800 proved successful in recent years, it was just a matter of time til someone in the big4 (Suz, Yam, and Kaw) came out with their version to compete. Glad it was Suz... Now just sit back and watch, as it goes out n the market, Suz wil offer all kinds of personalized accessories to personalize it, just like Hoda has the VTX.
I like it, if I had money to burn on a toy collection I'd want one in the garage... I liked the VTX back in 2001 when it was new and I bought the Bandit. Just didn't like the cost and what you get for your money from a motorcycle-I tend to like the bikes that ride and perform for the rider, not necesarily perform for eyecandy and trend market value. SO, Bandit $$$ vs VTX $$. hands down Bandt for me if i had only one. I almost ended up on a black FZ1, but it was new model in 2001, and the delaer wouldn't deal. The Bandit Suz dealer did.. End of story..

I think it's a good looking cruiser - and about time Suzuki updated their cruiser line's looks. The one thing that bugs me most about all the power cruisers (and many 'normal' cruisers) is the lack of decent passenger accomodations. Seems the pillion seat is an afterthought. About the only ones with a decent back seat are the baggers.
-
The problem with all those big cruisers is their so freaking heavy! But some of them do look nice, I guess that's what their made for. I must be getting old, I'm looking for smaller and lighter these days.
-
I like it except that ugly thing on the front. Couldn't be my only bike though, too heavyto play on.
-
I was getting my shinkos mounted by the stealer, and there was one of these beasts parked on the floor betweem 11,000 and 12,000 bucks if memory serves me well. I remember standing in front of it and bending lower and lower to see if there was really a head light in that thing on the front. I sat on it " no thanks".
PIN
-
Its looks cool for a cruiser, but I'm with you Jimmym,If i were to go with another bike I'd be going lighter a nd more adgile. Dan

Here's a much better pic of the big Suzi...

I like it. I'd rather have a set of big double headlights up front, rather than the headlight cowl. Never seen it in real life, though. Oh, pic is from an overseas site. They have a different name there, in case you wondered.
-
So, I put something up and you show something better! You wanna drop your drawers??
Jim

It is a beauty but that headlight is hideous.

Otherwise, you need to ask someone else! :stickpoke:
Oh, yeah, and here's another totally WAY better pic than Jim found!

They had two of these down at the dealer where I got my new bike.
I say 'had', because when we got there an hour after they opened (having left the day before after closing) they only had one, and it sold while we were trying to straighten the bank out.
It's a mean looking bike, to be sure. Some 500lb guy drove off on it (I kid you not, he was huge). My dad was drooling on a blue/white C83, though. That was definatly a pretty bike too, although not my style.

Desolation: I have to admit that that is one cool photo!
YOU WIN!!
Jim

Of course.

your talent is exceeded only by your humility!

Humble sort of fella, isn't he?????

Beaten to the punch again.
Figures.
-
Kind of a shame a big cruiser with a whopping engine like that is likely really slow.
-
....but only for the first 5 or 6 fast sweepers until you get about 75 pounds of floorboards and pipes ground off of it......
Less weight = more speed.
-
Ah....

Hey! You're describing moi!! :boohoo:
I'm sorry, arcticEd - you can win the next one, i promise!

That bike does nothing for me but I am in the minority. The local dealer is throwing these things out the door faster than anything.
-
I'm not much of a cruiser fan. I sat on one at the Bike show this winter. Nice looking and a nice feel but it had a LOT of plastic on it. I suppose this is to save weight and cost. Suzuki does have real "chrome" accessories you can buy for it. Personally, I'd rather buy performance parts that lighten a bike than weigh it down with doodads but I guess thats why I'm not a cruiser guy.
-
I cannot for the life of me figure out the cruiser thing. I went out yesterday afternoon and saw literally dozens of cruisers over the course of 2 hours, maybe one sportbike, and that's it.
All I can come up with is that there is maybe a lot of attempted compensating for something going on.
They all know they're big, fat, heavy, and slower than sh!t, right?
That's what I want! To be outrun on my 1800 by every kid on a 600 sportbike!
-

This from a guy dreaming of a 900 Eliminator and trying to buy a GS1100L? :duh:

You are so bad! Both of those are vertical inline fours and faster than snot!
And you know it!
-
And handle just as bad as any cruiser.
:btw: There are some modern cruisers that are fast and quick... like the V-Rod, Warrior, V-Max, Mean Streak, M-109, Rocket III...

I forgot about the V-Rod & V-Max, and the Rocket III? That thing ain't no cruiser, it's a truck!

It's the current crop of Harleyesque gigantic V-Twins that do nothing for me.

Uh, back to the question as posed:
I agree with the previous comments that the headlight cowling is ugly...I keep seeing the curved head of the Alien. The whole bike is really wide and fat looking from overhead. If bikes are supposed to be suggestive of a woman's figure, this bike is Rosanne. But...they are getting terrific reviews and the dealers are stocked up on them so they look to be a big seller. Eh...different strokes for different folks.
-
I have yet to see one in the "flesh". Unless they are coming in and moving out before my occasional Saturday dealer visits take place. The headlight cowl sort of bugs me, but the lines of the chassis aren't bad.
-
You really have to see it from overhead. The tank is VERY wide, as they can be on many cruisers, but the seat seems wide too. Looks comfortable for those who are used to being examined by the gynecologist. Unfortunately, can't find a pic quickly to link to.
