Finally had dry weather on a weekend with some free time. Went on a short ride down to our local waterfront. Lots of people out, lots of nice cars and bikes. On the ride I passed a ton of bikes. Get this, not 1, I mean not 1, Harley rider waved back! Sport riders, dual sporters, Beemer/Euro riders all waved. Just before reaching home one waved back. Wow, they're not all bad. As he passed I noticed he was on a Valkyrie. The snobiness continues!

I find that maybe 2/3's of the "cruiser" type here in CT wave back. Most are Japanese cruisers, but some of the Harley riders wave back too.

I was wondering if you made it out. I noticed the same up North. Went up SR 202 to Carnation. Had a coffee and headed back via Issaquah and Maple Valley. Great day for a ride. We did about a 60 mile loop. fun fun fun.

Maybe its the full face helmets.. We look like Aliens

No....Thats not it. I was riding with a friend on his HondaDavidson Chubby Boy. He's got a 3/4 Helmet.

I've heard these comments befor and still don't notice it down here. 95% of the time people wave back regardless of what they are riding. I think Northerners are more sensative to the "Made in the USA" Vrs. "Rice burner"thing than we are down here in the south. Having the old majority of auto workers up there that lost there jobs due to the asian imports. Granted, we've lost our fair share of jobs down here too...we just don't care as much I guess. Who knows? But it is definately a North / South thing.

The Harley snobs used to really bother me, to the point that I was the one not waving when I saw them. But I kept getting occasional waves from Harleys and I felt like a dick when I didn't have time to wave back. That's when I decided-- we're all on two wheels, we're all out in the wind, and I'm gonna wave at everyone, no matter what they ride. If Harley guys want to snub me, so be it-- at least I'm not the one being a dick.

I would have to say that Harly riders aren't too snobby around here either. It must be a northern thing as stated before.

Must be more regional than just North/South. I've run across less than 5 harley riders that DIDN'T wave back in the last 4 years of riding around central NY. Basically, everyone waves.

I think a lot has to do with the fact that many H-D riders are new to the sport and are unfamiliar with the wave. Although when I passed by at least 8 or more H-Ds and not one wave, well thats their issue. The snobs seem to never venture far from home so these quick local rides to the cruise areas probably bring them out. The people on scooters didn't wave either but I know they were new. They rode like this

Yeah, most Harley riders here in Alabama will wave. I think sometimes, like me occasionally, I'm in a spot where I have to fully concentrate on what I'm doing so I don't wave myself for safety concerns. Others are probably the same way. Sometimes I do think I get snubbed though. I wave when possible to everyone and let them be the snobs if they like.

Round here just about everyone waves. The only 'groups' that appear to not wave regularly are the 'dirt' bike riders and L platers (learners).

Mind you in my neck of the woods even car drivers will occaisonally wave to you and other cars, but I guess that's the bush for you.

In Massachusetts most everyone waves but they only use one finger?

With everyone waving in Australia it sounds like it's either a real nice place or maybe you only see another vehicle on the road once in a while?
