RIDE magazine Bandit 1200 dyno shoot out
« on: October 04, 2005, 04:58:39 PM »
Hi just thought i'd mention in Novembers issue of RIDE (out now in the uk) they have a dyno shootout with 14 1200 bandits all of different mods and ages and i also thought i'd mention i'm in it too
My bike did pretty well with a bhp of 116.7 and 77.2 torque.
Humidity was quite high that day so could have been a little bit more but i'm happy with those figures anyway.

Sounds like you have a really nice Bandit there Robbie.  I'm getting kinda bummed out right now.  It looks like the Bandit may not be returning over here in the U.S. for 2006.  I feel lucky I bought the 05 model back in July.  Had an 01 naked Bandit before that.  Best all round bike I've ever owned.  Best wishes.

Cheers guy's,  please get in line for autograph's
Out of the 14 mine was 3rd.
The guy that won kicked out 144bhp and 88.6 torque but he had completely rebuilt his engine 1216 big bore, skimmed and ported head, full akrapovic exhaust and re-profiled cams, he said he had spent about £3000 on it.

When my Bandit had the 1216 kit, it made 145 rwhp and 85 ft lbs of torque, now with the 1246 kit, it makes 155 rwhp and 94 torque. When it was 1216 it ran 9.90 at 135, with the extra 10 hp, it ran 9.78 at 139. not a lot of gain for the money that I spent to go to the 1246.
If I didn't have a Suzuki, I would have a Kawasaki

True, but it's not like you were gonna run 7's all of the sudden.
I guess the point is, where do you draw the line?

That is true, it only takes time and money. I wonder what it cost Brock Davidson to get his 97 Bandit in to the 7,s.

That was me!

Since the engine was built up it has been dynoed 6 times. 153, 149, 145 twice and 144 twice. Think I need to sit down and do the valves as I suspect the need adjusting. These are rwhp figures.

All the best

2 questions. Do they list all of the mods done to each bike and can we get Ride magazine here in the states?

Try Barnes & Noble or other big book store in a large population center.

Hi

They do not list much about the mods.

If you check this thread on another board you will find some scans of the article.

Also good that Paul found out his bike was hosed and got it sorted!

Hi

Cheers.

But only 144hp, hence I want more power.

Now to fit the flatslides. Which will no doubt destroy the current good fuel consumption I enjoy.

All the best
