Title: Side covers...Painted or Plastic?
Post by: Desolation Angel on September 13, 2005, 04:00:33 PM
On my '01 1200S, are those black side/frame covers with the fake chrome thingy painted or just shiney black plastic?  I just happened to be looking at them a little closer than usual and noticed they have a sort of fine speckling/flaking sort of look to them, but I can't tell if it's just in the plastic or a painted thing.

My delimma is...

Do I wax (painted), or do I ArmorAll (plastic)?

I need a life...

I wax 'em. I believe they're molded in black, but painted.

I noticed my '01's covers are a different shade of black than the ones on Bobcat's '02.

They're painted, but you should be out riding rather than waxing your bike!  :stickpoke:

You're right.  I skipped work yesterday and spent several hours detailing the bike, but didn't ride it.

a good general rule of thumb...

wax the shiny parts... armor-all the dull parts.

Just don't do either to your tires.

ArmorAll on the seat isn't usually a good idea either - unless you need a lot of extra help sliding off the seat.
