If the rider was going a little faster they possibly could have made all the way through.

Here's something kind of related, but without much detail.
http://www.nbc4i.com/news/4966441/detail.html#

The bike rider ended up in the back seat of the minivan...

If you look at the 'slideshow' pictures, you can see a helmet attached to the rear of the bike.
Not sure if Ohio has a helmet law, or if this was a passenger helmet.

Well,  you can see what happened, the van made a left turn in front of the m/c and voila'.
And you know that rear brake on that Kawasaki LTD will not stop!
The "news" channel should report on the facts not "just" the images!

Ouch. But, if the biker slid off first and out of the way of the car then you could say bikes are safer! Doubt that happened though

Not sure if Ohio has a helmet law.

". . . No person who is under the age of eighteen years, or who holds a motorcycle operator's endorsement or license bearing a "novice" designation that is currently in effect as provided in section 4507.13 of the Revised Code, shall operate a motorcycle on a highway, or be a passenger on a motorcycle, unless wearing a protective helmet on his head, and no other person shall be a passenger on a motorcycle operated by such a person unless similarly wearing a protective helmet. . . ."
