Son Backs Jeep Into Bandit And Lives To Tell About It!
« on: May 10, 2006, 05:06:07 PM »
I park it off on a side drive (we live in the country) and he (18 years old)likes to peel out in his jeep.  He appears to NOT see the bandit as he backs up so I scream and he slams on the brakes but still hits the bike - it rocks a bit but, thank god, doesn't go over!  Check the damage and there are a couple of scratches on that back section through to the black...He says, "sorry!" and commiserates a bit and then takes off.

I think about possible consequences/actions (see poll):

Does said 18yo son live @ home? If so, immobilize his Jeep until you feel he's suffered enough. Make him do (additional) chores to make up for the cost of the damage if he can't pay.

And what's wrong with making him pay for it?  Getting the part sanded/repainted will take a couple hundred, but if he's old enough to procreate, drive, vote (I assume that's true up there in Canadia), serve in the military (ibid), then he can work, dammit!

I'm not sure anything else will teach him to be responsible for his actions.  Well, I guess he could get some local eskimo gal knocked up....

What Red said...

I guess it kinda depends on if he's your kid or someone else's...

He's 18, gotta learn sometime... we all did...  be responsible...

You know, I've got this theory about the 'video-game' generation...whatever bad sh!t happens, it's really okay because you just have to press 'reset' and you can go back to the way you were!  No muss, no fuss and no strained conversations.

Wouldn't it be nice if life were really like that?

Two words.... personal responsibility.

There's just not enough of it these days.  At least put a stop to the peel-outs in your driveway.

You can't have anything decent around teenagers. They are just retarded. Its all the extra hormones running around in their bodies. My son closed the garage door on my Wife's brand new car.... twice. He doesn't intend harm. He is just simple.

All of them are like that.

Jim, go get a hammer and just beat the living sh!t out of your bike from from front to back, then from top to bottom.

You weren't meant to have it.  You may be cursed.  Sorry, dude.

Add a few dents and scratches to his jeep. Maybe then he'll undertand how you feel about your stuff being mistreated.

Dents and scratches won't work...they'd be a sourse of pride....RIP OUT THE RADIO/TAPE/CD, SPEAKERS and say when the bike looks new again you'll have sound again! Yeah I know...I wouldn't do it either but it's a great thought!!

Man I really feel for the kids or future kids of the two that voted on snipping his manhood with rusty pliers.  I mean I thought about it but that would be too harsh and cruel.

Buy a club for the jeep until he smartens up (FYI, I smartened up around 21).

Jim, has it not been made apparent by your son that in fact it is your fault entirely.  :duh:  :duh:  :duh:  :duh:  :duh:
Fancy parking your bike there in the first place.

Wow Jim,you just have'nt had any luck with this Bandit thus far!!

Same thing happened to me a few years ago!

Went to a friends "House Party"
Parked behind his Suburban,I knew he was'nt goin anywhere with a yard full of people!
A friend of his decided to borrow the Suburban,Jumped in Threw it in reverse,Plowed right into my bike!!

Almost $1000 in damage!
Luckily the ass had a credit card, took the bike to the shop and Swiped his card to pay for the damage!
