Yamaha Limousine Scooter
Yamaha has revealed a hybrid motorcycle concept, which is quite unlike any form of two wheeler seen to date. It certainly seems a little far-fetched to me but large shows, just like the auto industry, are a place for OEMs to show off their imagination. Based on Yamaha's 'Genesis' design ideal, the Gen-Ryu combines the lightweight, compact YZF-R6 600cc engine and an electric motor. It is designed to offer both the joy of handling of a motorcycle and the comfort and carrying capacity of a scooter. Features like the lightweight aluminium CF die-cast body with optimised rigidity balance, large diameter wheels and long wheelbase should give this amazing-looking model running performance and handling similar to a 1000cc class machine. Furthermore, the scooter features safety functions and smart functions for increasing rider comfort. The ASV functions include a vehicle-vehicle distance warning system, a cornering light system that improves nighttime vision when turning at intersections and curves, noise cancelling system that reduces wind noise, short wave tandem intercom system, voice navigation function, music player and hand-free cell phone function and a rear view monitoring system using a CCD camera and LCD.

I actually don't find that as horrible as a 'Busa.
-
It's what happens when a Fatboy crashes into a scooter.
-
Looks like the designers of the RUNE were smoking crack one night.......
-
gotta wonder how much it weighs
-
anyone ever see the stallone movie: Judge Dread, looks like his bike just add some gatling cannons to the sides and voila

I dunno, I was thinking more TRON light-cycle, but I can see where your coming from.
-
Isn't that the bike from TRON ?

Yes, Mike, it is.

Looks like Yamaha isn't the only one that can make ugly bikes...

That yammie needs clipons  Can picture David Niven riding it with his tie and fedora for some reason.
-
Hooly Crap! what a ugly pc of sh*t, I can't imagine that the designer(s) of that thing actully ride motorcycles.
-

Umm, except for the exhaust pipe, I like the Honda.
-
I'd ride the Honda.

I'd ride the little red one with wings!!!
Remember the machines that we ride today were just a dream from long ago

I actually like them in a weird sort of way. I would be leery of the bodywork in the real world of drops and scrapes. If you showed someone the 'Busa or BKing 15 years or so ago the response would be the same. The manufacturer who goes beyond conventional thinking and comes out with new stuff will win over the next generation of riders. The smart mfgs are looking beyond us (which Harley better do soon) and seeing what the young, video game raised kids will want.
-
OK, the Yammie is just too strange.
The Honda......could have potential, if it isn't heavy as a pig.
I wouldn't ride one, since it looks like the seat height is too low.
Maybe a good bike for ladies, though.....seating position of a cruiser....maybe a little better power.
-
I'd also ride the Honda.... into a wall!
Maybe help the cosmetics a bit, eh! People don't like far-out futuristic cosmetics or ideas, because they look dated much quicker than plain cosmetics. Anyone remember the Sinclair C5?
-
Where do you put the quarter in and how long does it rock back'n forth?
-
I kind of like the Honda too!
It could be a lot worse check out the Bombardier EMBRIO

Nothing like having an electric gyroscope keeping you balanced!
-
Honda had something like that a few years ago in one of their shows... it was actually a working model, not a graphic.

Yamaha seems to be on a roll of ugly scooter things:

Can't be a Yammie. Must be a BUICK!!!!!!!

I'd also ride the Honda.... into a wall!
I'd pay to see that!

Mmmm, looks comfy! Lots of storage for beer AND a live bait well! Woo hoo!
-
And an actual front BUMPER!
-
And you damn sure won't be doin' any 12:00 wheelies on it!
Seems like even a steep driveway entrance might even be a problem.
-
Maybe it's got an air-ride system. Remember the Citroen SM (?)?
Maybe it's in the 'squat' postion in the picture....and once you get on it, and crank it up...and get rolling....it raises up a bit.
You would want to put some of those little wheels on the back, like they have on some RV's, though.

I thought I'd forgotten about Citroën... :duh:
