Hi everybody,
Well i have an anouncement to make, i'm making the step up to a '99 SV650S. My reasons: More power, same consumption, better for highway-trips (a naked really is not so economic on the highway, is it?) and i got this for a sweet deal, really :-P
Soooo, i'm going to sell the B4, if anyone is interested here i'll put it up in the "For Sale" section.
I really appreciate all the help and the real community feeling i got here, this truly is a 1 in a million forum on the website. There is practically no other place i felt so home to on the net. Sure gonna miss this place...
Hmm, does anybody know a good SV650 forum? :wink:

:congrats: on the new bike! SV's are sweet machines. Personally, I like the looks of the 1G SV-S better than the 2G. Tried one on for size before buying the B12, but it the SV's ergos weren't as comfy for me as the Bandit.

Congrats, man! I'd love to get a first gen SVS as a streetbike. AFAIK, svrider.com is THE authority for SVs. It's a great board. I actually used to hang out there a bit.

My son ride an SV and loves it. He has changed out the under tail and got rid of the rear fender. He also put clipons on his. He found the upright riding position too tame.
I learned from one of the dealers that it is common for naked riders to drop the handle bars and the SVS riders all want the upright bars.
Let us know what you go with.

LOL! Had I gone for the SVS, I would have put more upright bars on it. I even found the naked one's bars to be too low for my liking.

I'm with Red01. When I bought the Bandit, I thought I was interested in the SVS, but when I sat on it, No way for me! Even the Naked SV was a little too aggressive. Nice bikes, but I need to sit "up" a little more.
I guess that's why they still sell the Bandit...

Good choice. The light weight to power ratio combined with quick handling makes it a very formidable bike on carving canyon roads compared to just about anything in its class. I would rather have the SV650 then a Ducati 650 (junk) any day.

Yeah the bike is really something else entirely!
I drove it last evening, from the guy's place to my home, around 30km. And well, i don't really have any problems with the clipon location, i can either sit fairly up or i can take the sporty position. I only don't feel the acceleration that well. It feels like my bandit had more punch, but when i look at the speedo all doubt is gone :lol:
The suspension seems a tad off perhaps that's the reason for the accel and i rode over some "bubbles" on the highway (bad highway part :sad: )and the front got some air-time... maybe see for some springs. Rear shock seems fine atm.
All in all, i just love it, it looks much more chique than the B4, even though it's color scheme is bright yellow :stickpoke: . And the torque range is just so big, on nearly every rpm it has loads of torque, so a quick acceleration is very efficient.
About handling, well i have to put on a new rear tyre, the former (and first) driver only drove straight, so now i have a straight tyre profile, difficult and pretty unsafe for throwing that in the bends. But form what icould feel is that indeed it has a lot of potential. I'm very sure i didn't make a bad move :wink:

Glad your happy with the SV
