Do they do any marketing research before they pick a name like Thruxton? Not quite as bad as the new Honds Fit or Toyota Yaris, though....

It's named after a circuit in England

Hey, that name has a lot of history associated with it! What are you, 16? :stickpoke: Anyway, this is Jim's first relevant post and you should treat it with respect!
'Nuff said?

I thought it was a city in England, but my comment stands...I don't find it to be pretty or evocative...if I bought the bike, it would be in spite of the name, not because of it.

Funny they would have that article and then in a different paper I saw a big sale on Triumphs - most were non-current but good prices! Gotta love that Triumph Tiger triple!!! (salivate, salivate)
Only problem is the triple on sale is $14000 in Canuckland and that's more than twice what I paid for my bandit. Betcha my Bandit could smoke it, too!

Guess who saw that "smoke" was the word of the day in his Cosmo Girl! magazine.

Between you and Cosmo and Des and conchos, I'm losing all the fun in life....

Sounds like you are having a blast...Rock on!

You have the inimitable ability to give a positive statement which, when looked at closely, is actually negative. I think you're a battery in real life with these kinds of posts...hopefully, it's not terminal!

Not nearly as much as

That bike shouldn't be on the road - it should be hanging beside the Mona Lisa in the Louvre!
WOW!!

WOW!!
Perhaps, but that particular color is blah. Needs to be black, fire engine red, emerald green, or maybe a deep royal blue.

i just love those one-sided swingarms!! but i remember there was something bad about them, can't remember what exactly...
-
That white on a triumph looks better in real life - it's quite creamy, actually. Goes well with fuchsia...

I originally went for a bank loan to buy the Tiger. Up to that point I had only sat on it. I took it for a spin and, after standing on tiptoes just to straddle it, noticed that it sounded like the Jetsons' flying saucer/car. I had read that there was excessive wind noise at speed and a short trip to 100Kph on the highway proved that, yes indeed it was deafening. When I came back there was a 650 Bandit sitting there. A quick zip on that showed me a bike that was a treat to ride. When I found out they had a 1200 with a savings of over $6000 on the Triumph, I was in heaven. Tiger? A good lookin bike but, no thanks.

And all for just $12,000! I could of felt like a moto pioneer of yesteryear with visions of people staring at me as I envision riding the Bonneville salt flats braking 100 MPH speed record. I got to sell my Bandit now...

I was doing wheelies last night while dreaming, on a older speed tripple. Was my pastors bike, was going through the gears keeping it up. Wasn't wearing a helmet, thats not like me.
The new one sure is a beauty! Maybe I'll update after I turn in tonight?

I believe that is the Canadian price. It's $7999 here in the states. http://www.triumph.co.uk/usa/4553.aspx
