A friend of mine (who I haven't heard from in a while; need to call him up) used to ride his dog and two cats on long trips. He had an 82 Yamaha Seca (which I later bought) that was his only vehicle; his dog, Frodo, was a mixed breed about 65-70 pounds or so. Frodo was well trained enough to sit on the pillion, but Paul rigged up a basket-type thing on the pillion for him and got him some goggles. Frodo rode in the basket and his two cats in the saddlebags. Paul took thim at least twice from Georgia to Wisconson and back.  Here's (http://katsden.5100bac.net/coppermine/displayimage.php?album=13&pos=2) a pic of Paul and the bike; as far as I know, there's no pics of him with Frodo on the back.

I don't think I'm going to try this with my dog, who's around 100 pounds and arthritic.

MY friend had a boder collie that would ride with him on his XL350 enduro by sitting in front of him and having his front paws on the gas tank. The dog loved it!!!!!!

Tthe bike is a Sunbeam S7 or S8.  One of those models used the large tires as seen, the other used a smaller front tire, I can't remember which.

It was an overhead cam in line twin, noted for smoothness and not much else.  The ammeter was on the right side cover, under the seat.  It required one to stop, get off and read the thing.  Only the English!

These bikes were not noted for reliability if run hard, i.e, anything over 50 MPH was hard on the drive train.  The rear cylinder often overheated.  The drive shaft used a non-locking worm drive that wasn't always non-locking.
