I had an interesting experience this weekend. i added to my previous top speed of 151. I got up to 155 and it was still going. I think that it would've made it up to 160 if I had a little bit more straight road. BTW, I have the naked version with a small fly screen. So I pretty much catch the full grunt. I also wonder if the fairing version is faster on top end is the same, higher, or lower. I know that it helps on aerodynamics, but it also adds weight What is your top speed achieved. If above 150, what mods do you have. I have a stage 1 jet kit and high mount holeshot.

Many factors go into this but..
03 Bandit1200s w/ D&D can. Rest stock.
I am 6'4 weighing in at 250lbs full gear
The SPEEDO has read 160 while in a full tuck on a long ass straight. That is as much as I've been able to pull from her.
-
150 on the speedo on the new B1250. It was like pulling teeth to get her to that speed, couldn't squeeze even one more MPH out of her.
-
220 km/hr on the speedo (so...likely 195-200 real) which is about 138 mph. Maybe a little left, but not much.
B6, stock engine, stock pipe, stock airbox, just drilled pilot screws and 1 - 0.5 mm shim under needles.
-
The fastest I've ever gone was 140 km/h, and that was a mistake!
I don't need to have a faster top speed than anyone else, I just like getting up to my top speed faster than the cars around me.
-
The B12 is supposed to be good for an honest 150-155 mph (240-250 kph). Figuring the optimistic speedo, an indicated 160 or better should be attainable by most.
On my '01 B12S w/Holeshot Stage II, Holeshot 17" street s/o & ZG DB windscreen: Had it >150 indicated several times and just shy of 160 indicated once. (158? Hard to say for sure, didn't spend much time staring at the clocks at that rate.) I probably could have got a little more if I had more nerve... but I started thinking of what could go wrong riding that fast at that location and backed out.
Of course, I'd NEVER do anything like this on a public road. :annoy:
That would be criminal... and with WA's new speed laws that went into effect last month, anything 31mph or greater over the limit will get your bike/car impounded and get you a stay at the Gray Bar Hotel under the charge of felony reckless driving.
-
145 MPH indictated - was still pulling, but ran out of (closed) road. Had a National Cycle F18 screen installed at the time. Bike has a pipe, stage II jetting, stock gearing.
-
Have buried the speedo at what looks like 175 indicated. Gearing is 15-47. Naked bike-124hp. Have not done the math but would estimate my actual at a little over 160mph. The wind blast is unreal as I have not even a fly screen. I can't imagine the fairing not helping. By the way did not vote yet. Do you want my actual or indicated speed for the vote?

Either way, it would put you in the "the one" category. I've been going by the indicated speed for this poll. Unless you were shot with a radar or timed, you won't get an exact speed.

I have no doubt that mine will run a true 180. It runs 140 in the 1/4, just barely getting into 4th gear
My peak HP is at 10,000, revlimiter is set at 10,500, at 10,500 the bike is making 152 RWHP, and would be going 182 mph. I have never gone that fast on the Bandit, and it might blow up before it got there, but it makes enought HP to get there :taz:
-
I have NEVER done 141 mph before. Never I tell you! :annoy:
-
Fastest I've been on the B6 was 135mph and I tell you what, theres no potential to go faster. It gets up to 100 pretty quick but it takes a pretty good stretch to get up to 135. Needless to say, I've only done it once before. Not many roads straight enough around here to do it. Not to mention the fact it scares the shiiiiiaaat out of me going that fast! I'll enjoy the twisties instead!
-
I've got to say I've heard the 2d Gen B6 can go 141 with the right conditions. I can't verify that, though. Sorry.
But I do have to say that the twisties are far more enjoyable that any speed -- even normal highway speeds.
-
I've been right at 130 on my 1250...still pulling pretty good...but the wind blast on a 300+ lb man at that speed sucks.LOL And bug hurt at that speed too.
-
You all know about Bandit Speedos being set to read 10 to 15 mph higher than actual, don't ya? I confirmed it with a hand held GPS. Some idiots' bright idea. God knows why.

I believe it's 10 - 12%. Otherwise at 5 mph indicated you'd really be going 20. That's a huge difference.

I had my bone-stock G2.5 1200 up to an indicated 249 km/hr
(~154MPH) with a slight headwind but also on a very slight downhill. She was bouncing off the limiter at that point so no sense in thrashing her for no reason.
-
I checked the speedo reading on my 03 B12 against the onboard GPS.
There is a 10 to 11% error in the speedo reading. 100 mph indicated is 90 mph true.

Stock gearing on the B12
RPM........1st........2nd......3rd.........4th.........5th
10,200 ....67.4......98.5.....128.5.....153.7......175.9
Most stock bikes, when toped in 4th gear, on a 5 speed transmission, will not go any faster in 5th. I have ridden some, that toped out in 4th gear, will actually lose speed when you shift to 5th gear. A stock Bandit 1200, running good, with average size ridder should do 153. 7 in 4th gear, or were ever the rev-limiter hits.
My stock rev-limiter was 10,200, I have the Dyna ignition now, set at 10,500

I ride with a GPS and at 80 mph it's off by about 10 mph. The faster I go, the more the gps reports it's off by.

According to Dale Walker's tests...the 1250 is 5 mph off at 80. which is 7%. They do it so that you can't try to sue them for your speeding tickets.

I find that the bike runs better when you thrash it on occasion. I have a friend who put over 100,000 miles on a TL1000S. It finally got a bad rod bearing and the mechanic tore the engine apart. Aside from the bad bearing, the inside of the engine was immaculate. He rode it like it was meant too and did his regular maintenance on it.

My naked 02 B12 hit around 145. Yoshi pipe and stage two jets. It pulled real hard to the 130's but then kinda topped out. I'd like to try again sometime, but should get new tires on first and a longer stretch of open road.
-
We don't have enough straight road around here to wind out my B1250 all the way, but I've had it to 130 mph indicated a couple times, and she had plenty left in her.
Recently a buddy was down for a visit on his Daytona 675 with GPS. He stayed behind me and I signaled to him when I reached 125 mph, and he reported 121 on his GPS. I figure 1-2 mph margin of error with our test method, so 5 mph less than indicated on the B1250 sounds about right.
I'm hoping to get out west and run the salt flats next summer, and get an official timed top speed. My goal is the 150 MPH Club... by then I should have my exhaust and PC III mods installed. That'll be fun!

I watched a video on Holeshot of Dale's 1250 with pipe doing 170 mph indicated.

holy moly

I've done an indicated 145 a couple of times, had about half throttle to go....felt fast enough...when the bike was new (stock windshield) it felt like you could ride 135 all day long.
I've seen some GPS's in 140 range.
man, I'd like to go up to Tulsa and have OK Bandit tune my bike! whoooa.

Just six weeks with a new 1250, no chance for high speed hi-jinks yet.
My '97 1200S - different story. Nothing radical - Yosh slip on, Factory stage one jetting, K & N, airbox opened up a bit, so forth. With a good friend, out west June of '06, we're headed for Glacier National Park, out of Jackson Hole. On one of those roads in Montana that seem to run to the horizon, we, um, got a little bored. Tom has a GPS unit on his FJR, we clocked El Bandito Grande at 145mph, with a bit more to come. Conditions somewhat less than ideal - 8,000+ feet elevation, a full complement of soft luggage, and significantly taller than stock gearing (hit 145 in 4th - wouldn't pull redline in 5th). A little scary, but fun. I gotta believe that, geared properly, minus luggage, and closer to sea level, the bike would have done 150 - 155mph. Tough old beast. The SACS engine may not have been a paragon of refinement, but it sure as hell got the job done.

I got a 2002 1200s with scorpion exhaust and Ivans jet kit, also had it set up and dyno'd and getting a little over 117bhp and have reached 165 on the clock.

Man you all are nutz, I never get above 140 mph indicated
But she sure is sweet at that speed.
I'll have to find a good road and test her out.
2000 1200S 15/47 gearing, Shinkos and 23k miles.

I regularly bury the needle past 260kph on mine (161 mph) with speedo error i guess i can make a real 155 to 160 but the bike doesn't like that kind of speed.
