There's a '03 Bandit 1200S at my local Suzuki dealership. It's got 2700 miles, Yosh RS3 full exhaust, rejetted, gel seat, tank bra, and aftermarket tail section with rear turn signals moved in toward the tail light. It appears clean, doesn't look like its been laid down, and it sounded fine when I had the sales guy start it. They're asking $4800. Does this sound reasonable? Is there anything peculiar to Bandits that I should look out for (like ring sealing problems, etc.)?

Suggested Retail Value = $5115

Sounds about right. No bargain, but no rip-off either. If that's the asking price, I'm sure they'll come down. You can try to get them to throw in some gear and/or accessories, too - especially if they play hardball on their asking price.
No oil burning issues with the '03 models. That only affected '01's and early '02's. Some folks complain the "S" model '01-'05 headlights are weak, but there are fixes for that, see the FAQs.

Just curious...which color scheme is it? Price is kinda high for a Bandit. I bought mine when it was 3 years old and only paid $2,900 in truly mint condition with Holeshot can and 23,000 miles I think. Make them deal more. Bandits aren't that easy to sell ... so I've heard.

Compare with prices on ebay and cycletrader.com. That price sound very comparable to what's out there. But, this time of year, you should be able to deal.

It's kind of a teal color. Bluish-green. Looks nice. No way they'll go down to $2900. That's like $2000 less than it books for. With only 2700 miles, it's practically a brand new bike. I will definitely get the tax, title, etc. for free, though. Once I get it, I'll feel like a legitimate member of this board.

Just for reference.... 23,000 miles on a bike is a lot more than 2,700 miles.
Sounds like a good deal to me... and I only buy new sh*t.

Same color as mine...cleans up real pertty like too. Mine is an 04 and had 1300 miles on it when I bought it for $5500. I got the guy to through in his 2 HJC helmets too.
I say buy it if you like it...and you will.

For what it is worth the insurance company just totaled my 03 Naked with 7500 miles on it and were offering $4850 and this is for a bone stock bike. I am tempted to say the bike you are looking at is rather reasonable. Not a screaming good deal but not a bad one either.
