I'll try this again... last year didn't work out. Looking for people primarily from Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri and Minnesota, although everyone is welcome.
Sometime this summer, probably July.
I'm thinking a meeting at Starved Rock State Park in Utica, IL. - but that is open depending on who is coming, and from where.
All interested mid-westerners chime in!
-
Would love to go, just need to set a date soon as possible so that I can see if I can fit it in between kids functions, travelling for work, and family vacations.
-
I might give it a shot but I'm in the same boat. I coach 2 baseball teams.
Our schedule usually tapers off in July though.
-
Haha, I was going to try a Midwest Bandit Fest here in ST. Louis as well. Did you go to Wanderer's fest here back in 2003?
I didn't have the bandit then but I still have his routes that they all took.
If not I am open to riding up there to see everyone.

How does Saturday July 22nd sound?
-
How about some time in June?
-
How about some time in June?
I'll be in Cancun the last 2 weekends of June.
-
I'm checking on July 22nd.
-
Sorry July 22, I'm on vacation.
-
I'll be in California. My loss.
-
I think the wife and I will be around July 22. I'll keep my eye on the thread for a finalized date and news on when you need an official yea or nay.
Sounds like a good time!
-
That date works for me!!
-
I have to admit... I'm losing interest in this due to the f'ing whining I've gotten from some other riders about location, ride quality, ride-time, food, blah, blah, blah.
That being said, I would like to "soldier-on" and try to get the 1st ever Midwest Bandit Bash going.
So if there are like minded midwest Bandit owners who would like to just get together for the sake of getting together and not worry about all the details... please send me a message.
-
My wife and I always go down to Brown county the first week of october.. the riding down there is the best I have found this side of north carolina, lots of hotels at a decent price and all.. and that gives people more time to plan..just a thought, I am behind ya 100% on getting something going for a midwest Bandit rally.. and if you need any help getting things together let me know.. my wife and I have helped put together a rally or two before..as long as its not june 19th thru the 25th.. Ill be at the Dragon!! woo hooo!!!! take it easy all!!
-
i would love to go coming from wisconsin. Any data ok just need to know what the date is. :bigok:
-
It'd be a kind of long haul for PaulVS in Chicagoland (probably 2.5 hours for me; likely 4.5 to 5 for him), but Brown County, Indiana (put "Nashville, IN" into MapQuest) is gorgeous (and usually temperate and mild) in the fall. About 30 minutes east of Bloomington, IN, a cool university town, and probably 30-45 minutes west of I-65 for decent access.
-
I am from just outside chicago.. and its well worth the trip to go down to the Nashville area.. our little rally is for the weekend of Oct 7th and 8th and we are staying at the Knights inn in Columbus.. should be a great time.. last year was a blast... its all arranged already.. and I would love to see some Bandits besides mine down there this year! so if anybody is up for it, drop me a line and Ill get you all the details.. take it easy all!!
-
coming from wiscosin will be a long ride i like the idea of Utica, IL better.

Not wanting to jump into your thread, but you Midwesterners need an acronym for your event. We of the Southeast have B.O.S.S. (Bandit Owners Southern States) then there’s B.O.N.E.R (Bandit Owners North East Region) and B.O.O.T.H.S Bandit Owners Of Tree Hugging States). B.O.O.B.S (Bandit Owners On Border States) How about M.O.B (Midwesterners On Bandits) !!! The Canadians don’t have one because the weathers sucks up there so they all come south to one of our events. The Kiwi’s are too busy with their sheep to even have an event let alone name it. The English were real original with B.B.C (Bloody Bandit Club). By the time the Aussies get done drinking they can’t remember what they called their event or where they are let alone have an acronym for it.
Again I didn’t mean to break into your thread. Just thought you might want to spice up your event with a catchy name. And to offend as many people as I could because it’s Monday, it’s raining and I’m in that kind of mood.
:beers:

In that vein, maybe "Midwest Yokels Owning Bandits"?

It wasn't that bad. I might be inclined to ride down and meet you folks. I'll have to see how the schedule looks. I have never been to Brown Co. in my life. I hear it's nice though.

Knights Inn, I65 & State Rd 46, Columbus, IN (812) 378-3100, this hotel has given us a rate of 49.99 a night, just mention your with the MIG rally its Oct 6,7,8, My good wife has set it up for her cruiser group but all bikes are welcome, and with me on the Bandit I more than welcome some fellow sport tourers, this is the third year we have done this and it has been a blast every time, the roads are sweet, some of the sweetest I have ridden in indiana, its no tail of the dragon but it is a good ride and a good time, so cmon down lets have a good time and do some riding before the winter hits!! oh and btw, for those of you interested, the bar is walking distance from the hotel !! http://s17.photobucket.com/albums/b72/dragonldy569/Dexters%20Accident/ here is a link to the photos of my crash, some may be alittle ugly, but not too bad, but the good news is I am just up on crutches now and am healing quicker than the docs had thought possible, doubt Ill get to throw a leg over an 07, but maybe the 08's will be even nicer!! lol.. take it easy all.. ttyl
-

Ouch! Glad you're on the road to recovery.
I'll second that — had no idea it was THAT rough a spill! Remind us how it happened?

Hi guys, It was the end of a perfect long weekend of riding, our whole group went to brunch in Story IN and we were splitting up, some were taking the scenic route and a buddy and I were going to head back up to 65 and head for home, the scenic group left about 5 minutes before us and we started to head north, I was doing about 40 (in a 35 zone) and coming up on a curve I hit some walnut shells on the road and they drifted me onto the yellow line, a woman in that minivan was talking on her cell phone and riding on/over the yellow, I tried to get back over as quick as I could but she never even saw me until I was bouncing off her front fender. the good thing is emergency crews were on the scene in like 5 minutes and in 20 minutes I was in a helicopter headed for a trauma center.. all is goin good now and I am healing faster than they thought I possibly could... take it easy all, and remember we are invisible out there, I forgot that for a second and it came back to bite me hard... but I will be back in the wind before ya know it.. late!!
-
All the best to you :beers: Hope you are back in the breeze very soon. Thanks for the posts. Makes me wake up more to what can happen to even seasoned riders. Have a great Thanksgiving! You have alot to be thankfull for.
-
Thanks alot man, I am truly thankful on this thanksgiving season, I could have been so much worse and my surgeons were just amazing keeping my leg in one piece, to all other riders, wear your safety gear! all the docs were amazed that I was in a motorcycle wreck, as bad off as my leg was all my gear kept the rest of me unscathed, proper full face helmet, gloves, boots, and a good riding jacket kept me in really good shape otherwise, I couldnt imagine having to deal with other injuries along with this leg, and I helped to make some surgeons believers in motorcycle safety gear..lol
-
Just wanted to drop a line and let you all know that I am recovering well, am up on crutches and driving now and it looks like Ill be walking in the next month or two as long as things keep going as they have so far...wont be too much longer and Ill be on here lookin for a good used machine!
