It's (finally!!!!) that time of year again. If you're not familiar with it, the American Legion in Ephrata, PA holds a Breakfast for Bikers on the first Sunday of every month from April through November (I think). The actual food is to be avoided at all costs but it is a cool day. If the weather is nice, the day can draw thousands of bikes. There's always some purdy Italian bikes, nice customs and so forth. There are some decent roads in the area, too.
It all starts this Sunday the 2nd. The weather is to be decent. I don't have any firm plans for this Sunday but would love to ride with some BA members if anyone is interested. If you are, post up!
-
I'm planning on getting down to one this year, but can't make it Sunday, I'm flying out to Nebraska for work.
I'm thinking June might be a good time, I'd probably ride down that Saturday and make a weekend of it. It'll depend on my wife's work schedule.
when the time gets a little closer maybe we can make it a mini rally! :beers:
-
Good idea, Jon. Maybe with enough notice we can get a good contigent of Bandits, June 4. Dsartwell, Gary, Junior, Randy, Gearset.... who's in?
-
I'll give you a ring Rob. We're just getting back into town on Friday so we'll see.
Very tempting though...

Junior and Randy - got your messages. Sorry - left the cell phone in the car. Randy - I'm probably leaving my house around 8:30. I'll be at Martins in Pottstown at 9:30. Maybe I'll see you.
-
Did you go for a ride pitter? How was it ?
-
I rode. Met Randy and BSed for a bit. Rode over to Cdyers house. BSed for a bit. Saw his new Gixer. Rode home. I didn't make it to Ephrata. Good day to be out, though. Did 150 miles or so.
-
I was there for about an hour, at least 2000 bikes. Did more BSing than looking. Went for a ride up to Millersburg/Tower City area. Beautiful roads, like piloting your own roller coaster  I have no freakin'clue how to arange these pics :duh:

Dandit - next time you post pictures, hit the enter key 2x before you enter the 1st pic's tag and 2x between each following one. Keeps the pics from stretching the board and puts a small bit of space between each shot.
:thanks:

Thanks Red , Hey I learned something today  so gettin' out of bed wasn't a waste afterall

I'm in for June 4. Its on the calendar. I've been meaning to do that for a year now and I'm gonna! I'm not real familiar with the area so I'll need some directions to where to meet up. Looking forward to meeting some people from here. Just have to work on my chicken strips so I'm not too embarassed!!

You can come into Ephrata on rt 322 from the east or west . Just follow the bikes and look for the traffic cops. If you come from the west, the Cloister diner is a safe bet for breakfast. If you come from the east/ rt 222, the truckstop has decent food. Watch your speed on the highways, cops are waiting. If it's really nice they will have a "bear in the air" for fund raising purposes...er I mean ..public safety, yeah, that's it.Your better off arriving before 9:00, it usually isn't too crowded by then.

dsartwell - Without looking at a map, I think the easiest for you would be to head down through Pottsville (61 via 42, I think?) then to 222 to Reading and pick up I176 to the end in Morgantown. From there you can pick up 23 to 322 into Ephrata. I'll be making that trip on my way to Potter Co in a couple weeks.
Like Dandit said, the day is a big fundraiser for the po-po. Look out. Great pics, BTW. Its a shame that Agusta owner won't lean that thing over, though.
-
Maybe I'll do a scouting run. Thanks for the info on the LEOs. I don't normally run too quick in new surroundings but its good to know. Hopefully there will be enough squids and hogs to keep them busy!
-
Wow  they''re more like filets than strips
-
Well, we WERE supposed to go on a lil' ride to Maine that weekend (originally scheduled for the 9th-11th) but my son can't get that Friday off of work and (most importantly) my daughter's HS graduation is the 2nd, so those plans have been scrapped.
Ephrata on the 4th may be a good alternative.
Is the invatation open to newbies?????
-
All are welcome, of course!
BTW - I will not be there next Sunday for the May breakfast. Running in the Broad Street run. :duh:

Insanity... It's a 10 mile run down Broad St. in Philly. No idea how I got talked into doing that.

Is anyone planning on going the 4th? Looks like I'm in--barring crappy weather. As I said before, I will probably spend the night saturday, can anyone reccomend a Hotel? I like my hotels like my women, clean, cheap, and not a lot of frills!! Expedia kicked out the Hampton and the Scottish Inn.
-
I'm a definite maybe. I've already marked the day on the family calendar but I'm having some mechanical probs with the B4. I'm not yet sure the extent.
Dandit - didn't you mention somewhere that there were some local diners? My thought was for everyone to maybe meet at one of them, grab breakfast and then head over to the Legion. We could hang out there for a while and then go ride for a bit... make a day of it. Thoughts?
-
. Thoughts?
:?:  I have thoughts, but I`ll have to get back to you. :duh:
-
Anyone besides Jon planning to be there? Anyone???
-
I'm planning to go. Just had a close older friend die this morning so as long as the funeral isn't Sunday I'm gonna do it. ArcticEd was also planning to go but I don't know for sure until I talk to him. Hope to see some folks there. Is there someplace everybody is going to meet ahead of the Fire Hall?
-
Sorry to hear about your friend.
The Evergreen Diner (http://maps.yahoo.com/py/maps2.py?Pyt=Typ&name=Evergreen+Diner&desc=(717)+738-9130&csz=Ephrata+PA+17522&country=us&cs=9&ed=UsD9Ha160Sz6AUugWy3KZ4ihukjqqskMDNmvZxgDhDfDMfysu3eYLIKxHRRhJcRQINo4) looks to be just north of the Legion (which is located at the "Community Park" on the map) looks like a reasonable spot to meet and grab a bite before. The Legion lot is crazy when you get there if the weather is nice. You definitely want to arrive there as a group rather than trying to meet there.
I'm very disappointed to say that I'll likely not make it. I haven't had a chance to get the bike in shape yet. I may cage it up. I'll have to see. I was chatting with ArticEd and I think he may know some nice roads around that you guys could hit afterwards. Dandit probably does, too. I also spoke with TomacGTI/Randy. It doesn't sound like he can make it. I'm surprised not to have heard from 12sDrag/Junior or Gary on this yet. C'mon, guys! :stickpoke:
-
I`m trying to make it. Every one at home seems to have different plans for me. I will do my best to make it. You know Rob you can work on that bike after the kids go to bed.

Junior, you could just stop here and pick me up. I don't mind riding Biatch! I'll hold on tight! :monkeymoon:
Sorry bout the link above. I forgot those yahoo things don't work as links. Just use your fav yellow pages site to find the Evergreen Diner in Ephrata, PA. Or, pick a different place. That was just a random suggestion. I've never been there.
-
I'm really sorry I'm not able to make it. I hope some of you guys do.
-
I had to cancel as well, work and pretty crappy weather brought it to an end. :crybaby: :boohoo:
I'll be on vacation next month.
Damn!
-
Anybody go?
-
Nope, I didn`t make it. Went to a bike show down were. Too many V-twins.
