2009 PNW Ride Options
« on: July 10, 2009, 12:13:41 PM »
Hi Guys

Well, July is already here, and other than Tony's (Greyhound) option, we haven't even talked about a ride this year.

My schedule has been pretty wacked this spring, but it IS July now. We must be able to put together a 3/4 day ride sometime this month. I'd really like to get down and do the West Side of St Helen's, and the ride up Mt. Baker. Maybe a circle including Winthrop/DH1 to Baker, down to St. Helen's and around to the east side, then past Ranier?

Who's got some time and some interest?

It is indeed a crazy year (daughter getting married next month and taking the wife to Hawaii right afterwards). The economy hasn't helped me any either.  But I'm interested in a short trip.  Been waiting for my son to get his bike back on the road.  He's dragging his heels a bit though.  It's actually rideable right now, but he's got the front fairings off to get painted.

Got any dates in mind?  If we include a weekend and make it a 3-dayer, I think I can get my son to come along, too... he's just short on vacation days this year.

Hey Red

I've got Cargo7 and I committed for a long weekend ride this coming week. We plan to meet in the Okanagon on Thurs 23rd and head south towards Rainer/St. Helens, then maybe back up towards Baker. No fixed route yet (may never get one either  :trustme: ).

The only thing fixed right now is that we will meet likely in either the Canadian or US Okanagon at about noon on Thurs and I need to be home in Cranbrook for Sunday night.

Let me know if your interested and what day/days you might be available, as we could meet you for just an overnigher or the weekend...we will likely go right past Matt's house on Friday.

Let me check with my wife this afternoon when I get home from work and make sure there's nothing on the schedule that requires my participation next weekend.  I think it's open, but wanna make sure.

Sorry, gonna have to miss out.  :crybaby:

My daughter will be up here from Florida (with a new granddaughter I haven't seen yet) this weekend.  To compound things, I just finished paying my bills for this payday and it looks like I'm gonna have to dip into my savings just to make ends meet for the next two weeks, so an overnighter would not be wise even if family wasn't gonna be here. My wife's investment in a pet store hasn't begun to pay back, it's still bleeding ("my") cash... I told her so...  :rant2:

You guys have fun and be sure to post a story with some pics when you're done.  Sure wish I could go!!

Well...we had some fun...but....

I met Cargo in Osoyoos as planned, but then realized I had forgotten to bring my passport, so NO US TRIP!! (Sorry Bobcat)

We had a great ride around the BC Interior and Caribou regions, stuff in my own back yard that I have never done. So a good trip overall. We both got wet on day 1 (Cargo got soaked!) and I got completely drenched in one of the most severe thunder storms I have ever been in on my way home. Lightning all around me in every direction over the Nancy Green summit.

Story and pics to come.
