Are we ready to start planning a trip this summer? Where to go? Montana? Utah? NorCal?

Hey Bobcat

Remember to check with Mobilemike, so we don't screw up his aniversary again.  :stickpoke:

I've got the first week of June booked for our yearly NorCal trip...we are heading to Chico and doing some loops from there.

I also have the last 2 weeks of July booked for going to Laguna Seca again...so more of the California Coast.

That said, I'm game to go anywhere...but still some great roads in Oregon & Idaho I haven't done.

Do you have some dates in mind? How long a trip can everyone handle this year?

Just give Red01 a shake...he WILL wake up, and maybe Mobilemike too

As for route, how about Northern & Western Oregon. There are some great roads in the area west of Eugene, and I struggle to fit them into our rides to California. We could likely do a great 5+ day ride just in Oregon.

Some possibles:  http://www.motorcycleroads.us/regions/or_coast.html
Siuslaw River Road
Smith River Road

WHAT?  <rubs sleep from eyes> Huh? <yawns> Did someone mention my name? Is it time to eat? :grub:

I don't check in here (or any other forum) as often anymore.  I try to check the happenings every week or two.  Slack time @ work has just about vanished and when I get home, I don't do much surfing... but Bobcat has my phone numbers.

I'm heading down to Grants Pass and Newport starting Saturday for ~10 days (in the cage, so wifey & her mom can ride along) and looking at google sattelite views of the area, I can see that western OR ought to have something to offer up, though I haven't ridden much of it beyond I-5 & US-101.  I'm up for it.

Hey guys,

I might be up for part of a ride. Not really in a position to take overnights at the moment, but if you roll through anywhere near portland, I'll join up for a few hours (assuming my ol' gal is on the road, still waiting on paperwork...).

A

I'm planning on riding NE Oregon sometime during the first couple weeks of August. I know, short notice. Work is crazy and I probably won't be able to break away for the rest of the year, so that's my window. Still a ton of roads there that I want to ride (or re-ride). Probably do a Thursday-Sunday type of thing (either 8/2-8/5 or 8/9-8/12). Anybody up for it during that time?

Hey Bobcat

Life is conspiring against me for those two weekends, but I might be able to join you for like Thurs/Friday Aug 9/10, or maybe even Wednesday? Not sure. I have committments for the Aug long weekend (Aug 4/5/6) and have to travel to Vancouver on Aug 12.

Later in August is better for me...

I'm pretty flexible, so whatever works best for the majority is good for me.
Pauly, Jr won't be making it this year, his new pizza biz has him tied down, plus the fact that he's bikeless at the moment.

Let's pencil in August 9th-12th then. pmack, hoping you can join us for at least part of the ride. Sorry I can't do it later--work keeps getting in the way. Mike, those dates work for you?

Anyone else? So far it's just Mike and Red and I. Where do you guys want to meet on the 9th? I haven't done Hwy 20 yet this year, and I'd like to incorporate that at some point, but that's kinda out of the way for Mikey. ;)

Matt, are you gonna be leaving from the east or west side of the Cascades?

SR20 seems kinda outta the way even for me, if the goal is NE Oregon.

Saw a show on TV the other day called "Shut Up & Drive" and the road they featured in the first episode was Rowena Loops, which is on US30 between Hood River and The Dalles. Looks interesting.  Have either of you run this little stretch?  From this little blurb on Pashnit sounds like it's more fun to run from East to West, but we could always run it both ways and decide for ourselves.

I'll be leaving from Seattle.

That road looks awesome. Are you guys up to ride St. Helens? Maybe we could meet Mike at the little restaurant in Randle, and do St Helens down to Carson/Cougar. Whaddya think?
