I've been doing high mile trips with soft luggage since 1992 and always felt a little unsure of leaving "valubles" in my tank bag or other soft luggage when I would make
stops for gas and food.  The Suzuki tail rack has been made fun of because of its small (six-pack) size.  However, when a friend from Ohio recently spent a few days
in Texas, I became curious about his trunk.  He was running a combination of GIVI bags and an inexpensive JC Whitney trunk (that looks suspiciously like a
GIVI) on a home-made rack.  When we pulled the bag off it looked like it would fit on the OEM rack.  I sprung for the bag (on sale $79.95 with mounting bracket & free
shipping on anything over $75).  It was a 15 minute job to mount and fits like it was made for the small OEM rack.
If you have a stock rack and don't want to $pend the big buck$ - this is a great option.

Have a look!

I don't know about the 1G's little rack, but do NOT do this on a 2G with the Suzuki rack or any other that only mounts to the grab rail mounting points.
The rear subframe here on the 2G isn't strong enough to take more than ~10 lbs. and is known to crack if overloaded.
If the rack uses more mounting points than just the grab rail, you can actually carry something heavier than a six-pack.

Even though the 1G is different back here, I wouldn't be surprised if it has problems with something like this, too.

I just got the same trunk a little over a week ago.  I really like it.  I was able to put a full duffle bag in it as well as the liner from my jacket and a couple of other small things for a Memorial Day weekend trip.
Wait for me!!
