Title: Anyone try RainX for their shields??
Post by: jbrough7 on May 14, 2006, 09:16:17 PM
I ride every day no matter the weather and really don't mind the wet stuff.  I keep pretty warm and dry but I just can't see a damn thing!  In a heavier downpour, I'm spending most of my time with one hand wiping the shield off.  Then I always ride with the shield open a fraction and water bounces off my helmet and then goes INSIDE the shield down in front of my eyes.

Got some RainX and tried it today but it stopped raining as soon as I applied it.  Maybe that will fix the problem!

Anyone got a solution?

Thanks.

Jim

I use Rain X on my shield and it works great.  Just turn your head and it blows the rain off.  The faster you go, the better it works.  The only problem is at low speeds where there is not enough wind speed to blow off the drops.  In the city I flip my shield up just enough to see under it a bit.

Plexus & Honda's Spray Cleaner & Polish will do the same thing as Rain X on the face shield... It may be a little depandant on helmet designs, but with the ones I've used, you have to turn or tilt you head a little to get the wind to blow the droplets away.

The nice thing about the Honda stuff is you can wash your bike with the stuff, too. My bike only gets a water bath about once a year, the rest of the time, it's Honda's spray stuff! I keep a big can in the garage and a little can in my tail bag (along with a little can of chain lube).

I would guess that the rain-x would halp a little in the bug removal process as well?

I tried the rainx but it deosn't really seem to do anything - maybe the rain beads up a little more but i have to wipe the visor so much i bet i've just wiped off all the rainx!

on humid evenings the rainx gets foggy with moisture at low speeds .that is my only complaint and obviously it isnt enough of a hinderance to keep me from using it
