Title: Best all around riding boots?
Post by: ant_129 on September 23, 2006, 01:23:01 AM
Hey I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for riding shoes that were comfortable to wear all day and looked fine with dress slacks?  I would like to keep it under $100.

The reason I ask is because I commute to work and am wearing casual shoes that are a little better than tennies but not much.  They provide no ankle protection and are slippery when wet.

I have steel toe boots that are high risers but get kind of hot and uncomfortable for all day use.  They are great for riding only.

I bought a pair of Dr. Martens cap toe chelsea boots.  They are ankle high and comfortable on and off the bike.  They don't look too shabby, either.

They were about $70 from Zappos.com.

Hey thanks for the reply.  How are they when it is wet?  Do they slip a lot?

They are pretty sure footed in the dry.  I avoid riding in the rain, so I don't know how they would do in the rain.

They are VERY comfortable both on and off the bike.

I checked Zappos and they have jacked up the price since I bought mine this past summer...
they are now $110.
