Body Armor

Hey guys
Looking for suggestions for good lightweight body armor - I have a Joe Rocket Ballistic but I'm looking for something lightweight for the summer - the mesh ones I have found so far look fairly silly on someone of my size!!

I guess you're saying that you're big enough without having your outline squared off and padded, huh?

Many of the mesh jackets, such as the Joe Rocket Phoenix and those that are similar (like the First Gear one I have) have sets or armor that can be removed, to give the jacket a little less stiffness at the elbows and shoulders.

If you already have something like the Joe Rocket Meteor, with a zip-out vest, you might want to stay with the Phoenix, since you should be able to use the vest in it and get a little more flexibility in Spring/Autumn.  On the other hand, I didn't like the Phoenix's mesh, which was very soft and large, I liked the tighter weave and neater appearance of the First Gear.

So, like other garments, shopping around and trying things on is important.

I don't mind looking bigger, let's just say that speedo ain't exactly my style! Anyone tried the Icon Armor vest - looks pretty cool & looks like it would fit nicely under my football jersey.  Give me the protection my old bones need without having to give up the cool comfort!!
