Would someone mind pointing me to, or providing some basics on comm sets?
I understand that sets are basically two-way radios, so there are no monthly airtime fees, unlike cell phones. But are sets interoperable? That is, if I have Brand A and you have Brand B, can we still communicate?
Also, I would like to avoid something that has to be permanently mounted to the helmet.
Also, neither me nor my most-frequent riding buddy have conveninence outlets, so I would prefer something that can be recharged or use batteries.
I'm basically looking for something inexpensive so we can communicate a bit, like "I just passed my third deer" or "Why are you so far behind" or "Let's find gas" rather than just chit-chat.
Suggestions on actual brands/models would be appreciated.

Most of the bike-to-bike comm sets operate on FRS/GMRS freq's, so will comm with other brands. If you already have one of those little hand held FRS/GMRS radios, you can use that along with a headset kit.

Personally, that's why I get on my bike most of the time. I don't want to hear any one talking at all. But then that's just me...Banditone1250s.... :bandit:

That's fine if you are riding by yourself or don't give a rat's ass about the person you are riding with.
