Title: First Gear Kilamanjaro
Post by: Swamp Rat on November 21, 2005, 11:59:12 AM
Just an update on the pant & jacket. I road to work the other morning with temps in the mid 30'sF. The only place I started to feel the cold were my hands {cheap walmart gloves} and feet {Dr. Martin steel toed work boots} everthing else was quite toasty. I have an HJC helmet with a breathe box. The breathe box has been altered as I had my wife sew on part of a balaclava to the bottom of it. Works great!
I'll update again as the weather gets colder.

I also have the Kilimanjaro and the First Gear insulated overpants.  I have been riding about a year with them and they are great.  I have a Scorpion EXO helmet, a wind proof neck warmer, and First Gear gloves.  The only thing that gets cold is my hands.  I am too cheap for heated gloves, so I am planning on buying grip warmers from www.dual-star.com.  I think they are about $30.00 USD.  I have ridden as low as 35 degrees (F).  Yesterday was about 38 +/-.

PS. Nice bikes Brian.

I have both the Kiliminjaro Jacket and Pants too.  I like them a lot, except I get tired of the snaps on the jacket.  But this system keeps the water out, and it's warm too.  You can remove the liner and open a bunch of vents and use the jacket into somewhat warmer temps, eighties maybe.  An Aerostich suit is easier to put on but I hear it's not totally waterproof.  Lots of people I know love the Stich though.  I'll keep the First gear till it wears out.
