Flashy boots or no?
« on: April 29, 2006, 07:44:49 AM »
I'm looking at getting new boots and the colour seems to be holding me back more than anything else.  My Bandit is candy apple red so I'm kinda thinking red Sidi's or some such to go with it.  Always loved bright colours....but would the bright colour suck after a little while and make me pine for black??  Can't decide.

Wish my mother was around still to tell me what to do!

Of course, they're for warmer weather.

You'd be surprised what girly-guys can do!  I used to think gardening was just for them and I'm just about dead today after digging up dandelions and planting a few (very pretty) flowers!

Jim,

Personally, I prefer standard black boots or mostly black with a little color.  That's just me.  Do whatever YOU think is best.  Sometimes I ride with a textile jacket and blue jeans.  Red boots would look a little strange, in my opinion.

What if you have to wear them to a formal dinner?

Good point!  Can you imagine if i had those on and the queen of england came to dinner?  Sheeshh!!

It's good to get others' opinions.  I saw some really cool-looking boots on ebay once and started bidding.  I showed my boy and he said they were really 'gay'.  so then i asked 12 people and they ALL said they were 'gay.  They did have a lot of white on them but they were also blue, although i must say it was not a real masculine blue...

Desolation - i found that girlie site REALLY looking for the triumph bike site and it is awesome.

I was looking for info on the speed four, I believe.  You guys get it in the US and it's only something like$6499 but it's not even available here!  Rip!

You know they're not making it anymore.  No more fours.  Twins and triples only.

it sounds like you may be fashion impaired.

If you care what others think--  Stick with black-you can't go wrong :bigok:

If you don't care what others think--get whatever you like.  If anyone gives you crap kick their @$$ with your lavender/mauve boots, and that will put an end to it.

Tundra:  I just about died laughing when I read your comment!! :thanks:

Good one!

Can you just see some guy telling his buds he got beat up by a fairy wearing lavender boots?  NOT!!

I wonder if fashion impairment can be passed on to your kids?  My son just loved bright colours too - had to bright pink rubber boots when he was a young buck...then his little friends told him pink was for girls and he switched to black and never....well , you know what they say!

Now he's 6'2" and a pretty good linebacker.  If I mentioned the pink boots, I think he might pick me up and break me in two.

OK, Jim, I'll get serious for two seconds.  I've worn these since the '70s.  Never found anything that suits me better.

When I used to ride ALOT many moons ago I would have a cobbler put steel taps on the toes and heels.

I actually like the looks of the boots you posted.  Pretty sharp!  Just not my thing, you know.  I specifically DO NOT want to look like Boy Racer on my bike.  I prefer the standard '70s style of heavy black leather boots, black leather jacket (not that Harley sh!t), and a set of black leather gauntlets.  Leather lasts forever.  My late parents bought me my gloves in the mid '70s and I wear them to this very day.  Perhaps with just a touch of sentimentality.

You Joe Rocket type guys, hey, your stuff looks cool and is probably really protective.  I just don't dig it for me.  Maybe if I were younger...

I know what you're saying cuz i'm kinda a tweener - i like the basic black motorcycle boot as well along with black gloves and leather jacket.  Hey - I can have TWO wardrobes!!!  (Honey!!  I've got TWO closets full of nothing to wear!!)

Jim,

I have a pair of these Oxtar boots. They're waterproof and very comfortable. I can wear them all day at work with no discomfort.
