Title: Joe Rocket Velocity Saddle Bags

Does anyone have these for saddle bags? I have them, they came with the bike when I bought it. Is there anything I can put on the back of them so they won't wear or scatch my paint? Also, before I took them off, I noticed that they were sitting on my rear signal lights. Is this just a matter of them being mounted to far back on the seat or is this how they should be mounted?

Best thing to do to protect the paint is a static film applied to the bodywork.

I've got no experience with the saddlebags to say for sure, but you can always try mounting them in different positions.

The best thing I've found to protect the paintwork under soft luggage is a product called Frisket paper.  This is a self adhesive film used by airbrush artists to mask areas.  The adhesive is not overly sticky so removal is easy with no worries of harming the paintwork.  It is available at most art supply shops.
I just bought the Joe Rocket Velocity saddlebags myself.  Haven't had a chance to field test but really like the features - expandable sides, integral bungees, rain covers etc.  Got a great deal at Royal Distributing in Guelph, Ontario $85cdn.  Local Suzuki dealership wanted $180.

I have the same bags and I have used the static film with good results. You can get it on EBAY pretty cheap.  I haven't noticed the bags rubbing on the taillights. You can easily take the bags off and change the mounting position enough to solve that problem I would think.

I hope that helps. I haven't ever been very happy with the bags. IMHO, they just kinda suck.
