Title: NRC covers
Post by: Banditboy600 on May 31, 2005, 04:23:52 PM
After the slight spill my B6 took in the trailer on the way home from BOSS, I am going to invest in frame sliders, and NRC covers.  Anyone have an idea where I would get these NRC covers from?  I want to add them when I do my next oil change and valve adjustment.  let me know what you think.thanks, Kevin

Looks like you can get a complete set for just under 150.00.  Looks like a good deal, thanks Paul! :)

Yeah Pete, SpeedandCompetition was closer to me, I am sure I saved on shipping.  Great guys, shipped the covers and received them within two days.  The look hard as hell!  Next oil change I will put them on.  Can I do this, with my limited wrenching abilities, or should I have my mechanic do it?  Let me know what you think.  I also bought new gaskets.  Thanks again,  Kevin

If you can unscrew the allen bolts that hold the covers on, you can do it.

You may need new gaskets, or a tube of silicone gasket in case you damage the old ones during the change.

  You mite think about putting some paint on them. I think they look better when they match the motor. :beers:
 :congrats:  nice covers

I ordered replacment gaskets.  My B6 is not black, just silver I guess.  Does their color change when they heat up or something?

No.   I'm not sure how the rough surface would look painted, anyway. :?:

Pete
Can you post a picture of yours?  I kinda remember from BOSS, and thought they looked good unpainted.  Does the heat change their color at all, like the headers change to a yellowish tint?

Heat doesn't change their color and unpainted ones blend in well on the B6 motor.

Here's a pic of my bike with the NRC cover showing:

They haven't shifted color at all, Kevin.  The temps of the covers I doubt reach 1/4 of what the headers hit.

o.k. Pete and Paul I agree with not painting them.  Paul, I think your unpainted covers looks great, but I can't say the same for your house.  it really is hurting for some primer and a couple coats.  Maybe the guys from the Alley can come over and help you slap some paint on that house!

Not my house.
When the pic was taken, I didn't have a digital camera, so I rode over to a friend's house who is a camera buff (& computer geek & Jeep fanatic) so I could get some digital pics of my bike. His wife is really into gardening, so the bike was parked in front of the flowers for effect. He's really got a well-trained wife - she was in the middle of removing the paint from the house for repainting (which she did, too) while he was goofing off with his hobbies.
I can't even get my wife to do the dishes...  :monkeymoon:
