Road ID
« on: November 13, 2007, 09:58:28 AM »
As moto pilots we have to be prepared for the worst, so proper protective gear is a must.  But while many of us think of pre-crash protection (ATGATT), not many of us think about post-crash protection in the form of a readily-accessible form of ID.  If we are found unconcious, proper presentation of our name, next of kin, our blood type, and whether we have any allergies or other sensitivities is vital to EMT's.  Searching through wallets for info is time-consuming and requires moving your injured body.
That's where RoadID comes in: they make five products that allow you to put six lines of 23 characters each on quickly-found wearable items.  They have a shoe ID, a shoe pouch that adds the ability to carry a key, a neoprene ankle ID band, a nylon wrist ID band, and a neck ID that looks like a highly-polished military dog tag.  Originally designed for runners and cyclists, the RoadID has great utility for the moto community.

The Aerostich Catalog carries a similar item:

http://www.aerostich.com/catalog/US/Emergency-Medical-Information-Pocket-p-18900.html

You can get the same thing Aerostitch sells for $20 for only $11.95 here:

These guys also sell an emergency info/ID card that you can put in a wallet, or hang from a lanyard around your neck.

And an even cheaper version that you can stick on your helmet is available here:  :bigok:
($1.99 if it's all you buy, free if you order anything else from them.)

That wouldn't be like the sticker I have on my helmet that reads:

In case of emergency, buy me a beer !!

I like the free down loadable emergency form best in your link best Red01. I printed it out and placed it inside a small pint freezer bag and used a red sharpie marker to write EMERGENCY and a prone stick man with two x's for eye's. Thanks!

One of the track orgs I ride with provides and requires that you use one of those helmet pouches.  Pretty cool system: you fill out the little emergency form and then put it in this 2"x.5" pouch.  The hole in the pouch is on the same side as the adhesive so once you insert the form, peel the protective covering from the adhesive and stick it on your helmet, it's safe in there.

Another resource for relaying emergency info in the event that you can't:
