A buddy of mine in TX had a Black Simpson Bandit in 2001; he claimed it was a very noisy helmet and didn't have it long.  This was compared to a Shoei RF900.  Hopefully, they've improved by now..

I guess I don't see why the police would use it as a mark against you, I dunno maybe it's different in the UK.  Maybe the cop was just using any excuse to haze you.

Heck, I had a Shoei RF900 Orbit graphic, seemed like it should have gotten more attentio than a plain white helmet; and it didn't attract attention.

They do have some wild ones out that could make you look like a holigan:

I've also heard reports they tend to get water on both sides of the faceshield when riding in the rain.

If you like the Darth Vader/Star Wars Storm Trooper look, they're the dawg's danglies. I wanted one back when they first came out with that style back in '77 or so.

Is the UK one of those countries that made tinted visors illegal?

Anything more than a 30% tint, and they have you. I have a loud can and a small number plate, so far have not been stopped yet, but there's time yet for this to happen. and the can is very loud!

I have always wanted a Simpson Bandit helmet, but they aint legal over here, same goes for Craft, and Roof helmets. Any of these helmets with a good airbrush job, would just be the ducks nuts :bigok:

Well I am a little confused, Why not legal? I have a Simpson Bandit but I use it for Drag Race only. I do not think it would make a very good street
Helmet. VERY GOOD Air flow but you can not shut off the vents and the field of vision is very small. But on the drag strip that is all you need.
Why not legal in OZ?

Because to put it bluntly, our beloved government and the safetycrats who give helmets Aust safety standard approval, do not take British, American or anyother countries standard as ours. So if Simpson or anyone else wants to sell their helmets here they must supply free to Aust safety standards a whole heap of helmets for testing. So a lot of helmet companies like Simpson, Craft, Roof just to name a few, don't think it worth it. But having said that Australian Streetfighters an online store is trying to get approval for Craft.

That is a Simpson, but I am sure I can get a similar result with a Craft.

You can get Simpsons here, and you can buy them off the shelf in some specialty stores......however you'll find they are marked
