DjVas: How about the OEM tires (Bridgestones for me).. I shouldn't get the same? i thought that is the right thing to do...

On Bandits, the OEM tires are not that great. Since you say yours are Bridgestones, I'm guessing yours is a 1G bike, if so, there's been a couple (or more) generations of tire advancements since those tires came out.

I got 12,000 out of the oem Bridgestones, and 13,000 out of the first replacement set of 054's.  I've got a set of Conti Road Attacks on now with 5,000 on them and they look like they will go 10 - 12K as well?  B12 30K and going strong!

I'm with you Daytona - I don't know how people get the milage out of tyres that they do.

The best I've managed out of a rear tyre is 12,000km (7,400 miles) from the original Macadams (90x).

From the Metzler M1 got 7000km (4,300miles), but that was really pushing it past it's use by date - realistically I only got 5000km (3100miles).

From the Metzler ZE4 I got 8000km (4900miles).

I've now gone back to Macadams (100x) on the rear, it's got 2000km on it and hardly looks used.

So I'm on my 4th rear tyres in less than 30,000km (18,600 miles).  But I'm only on my 3rd front - mind you it'll be due for replacement in a few thousand K's.

  Damn,I have cords showing on my Qualifier I put on this yr befor the rally. I have another 50 miles to go befor I hit 3000 miles. And it wasn't cheap either. But it did stick good. I think I might get another Conti,I have a used front road attack,  and now a front Qualifier.but I still didn't get that much more out of the Conti,I have it written down in my manual somewhere. I think maybe 3500-4k out of the back. I could put it back on for maybe a couple of weeks and it would probably show cords too.              Dan

And my 208 GPs for the track don't last as long as the Qualifiers. I still have to get some track time in so I can burn those up too.  Dan

Hey Smooth! The crew that you rode with on the last Boss trip said you are a darn good rider! I was wondering why you don't give the stinko's a try? You could put some doubts to rest that some have about them being up to you knee dragger type's needs. I would almost guarantee you wouldn't be sorry.     But don't try this at home. Closed track with pro rider.   :beers:  :beers:

When I first tried out the shinko a few years back now, I was a full time motorcycle courier in Melb Oz, Tried the 009 rear and have never even thought of using anything ever since, rain hail and shine. Now with the ZRX im using the 005 and only because i could not get supplied with the 009. But having said that I do like the 005 front. Great mileage and great stick, but one needs to keep the tyre pressures up. On the b6 36 psi front 40 rear. The Rex 42 rear 38 front
Foot loose and fancy free.
Looking for adventure and what ever comes our way.

I believe the Bandit 600 has Bridgestone's as OEM tires.

Either way.... all stock Bandit tires suck eel slime.

My old 05 B12 that I sold to my brother in law (that way I get to visit the B12 regular and somtimes even ride it ) now has just on 7500 miles on the OEM Macadams and the rear has just now started to handle a bit off due to it becoming squared off.  The front still looks great and should do at least another 5000.

I think he is going to replace both at the same time and I believe that he is going to try the shinko brand.  He does more commuting than touring so I think he should try to 005's.  I will let you lnow how he goes.
Taken over by the dark side. Now riding a CB 1300 but visit my old bandit regular.

Not a good choice from what i've heard! The 005's is more of a sport type! the 009's is what the commuter needs. He will get over 8k on the rear and stick as good as any! :bigok:  :beers:

Just a question on the shinkos, here in Brissy Aust they are classed as cheap and nasty. Reading most of your posts they sound like a good tyre we have a bloke here who sells them cheap as chips.Thinking I should give them a try what do yous think..Graham
