New Corbin Seat

I just received my new Corbin seat for a bandit 1200S and discovered that my butt is now about three inches from where the seat begins to rise..my stock one fit me fine so I guess back it goes for a modification.  Anyone have the same problem ?

Do you mean three inches from the back of the front seat?  I don't get you...

I take it that's not comfortable for you if you scoot back?  I don't have that particular issue with my Sargent.  Are they gonna charge you for alterations, or was that included in the price?

Corbin will give you one free alteration as long as they can reuse the cover. If they have to make a new cover, there's a charge for the material.

I had that exact problem. Boy did I hate that seat.

When seated normally, there is a 3 inch space between my butt and where the seat rises to the passenger portion of the seat.  I have stock bandit handlebars and believe me, when you crank on the accelleration, my butt slides backwards to fill the 3 inch gap and that's an erie feeling.

I compared my stock bandit seat with the Corbin and determined that the Corbin seat was cut deeper at a rearward angle towards the back.  The stock Bandit seat is fairly flat.  I've sent the seat back to Corbin (30 bucks later) with a note that I didn't want the deeper cut but one that was similar to the stock bandit seat.

I'm hoping they won't charge me as the modification only requires filling in the bucket seat they created with extra foam.

Lots of folks have made the same mistake as you.  Its always good to sit on one first before you drop those kind of coins on an aftermarket seat.  I'm sure Corbin will make it right for you.  I've had two of them, so far, on my bandits and both have fit me perfect without alteration.  On my 2nd Gen, the seat pocket was a little too far back and the front portion of the seat pushed on my nads when leaning forward to grip the bars.  I just added some HS risers and some 1st Gen bars and life was good again.  Sixhundred mile days were a breeze with that set up.  My 1st Gen bandit corbin GF was perfect right out of the box.

After much difficulty in getting to see an actual Corbin Smuggler for my Bandit, they made one for me and I got to try it on my bike.  It fit perfectly with a couple of spacer washers and looks great.

After my first 600 + mile day, I thought it was too stiff and talked to Corbin about softer foam.  They recommended waiting a while - saying it would soften up with use.

It did, it did, it did!  Ant I really love it - gives me a lockable compartment for wallet, sunglasses, camera, phone, etc.

Only problem is - Daytona thinks it looks like a baby Busa!

The Corbin folks sent back my re-cut seat and things were perfect, no more sliding back.  The trip to Colorado was hurtful for the first 1000 miles but the return trip was perfect as the seat broke in.

No. I bought the Suzuki Gel seat, which has the same contour as the stock seat, but I always had the feeling even with the gel seat that i needed to be seated further back. My answer was to buy a set of handlebars with a longer extension to the rear, and I'm over 6'-2". Bars intended for the Suzuki GS1150 did the trick. They are also 2" taller, 2" wider, and of course, have 2" more pullback. Now I would refuse to ride a Bandit without these bars. No more pain in the upper back, either.  It's amazing how these bars increased the 'flick-ability' as well. Handles like a big dirt bike now. Try it.
