Bought one of these for my wife about a month ago based on the fact that it came in #1 in safety in both Cycle World & Motorcyclist helmet tests.

She really likes it. Vents decently (not great) and is really quiet.

Best part of it.... the $79-$89 price tag. Also comes in graphics models. It's DOT approved, not SNELL.

I bought one after reading the Motorcyclist article titled Blowing The Lid Off. It is lighter and quieter than my expensive helmets and is super comfortable. I bought one for my wife too. Now my expensive Snell helmets sit on the closet.

Yes, it is comfortable. Noise and venting are both a bit worse than average, but not bad. However, the materials used for the visor and the hardware that holds the visor in place are the cheapest possible plastics, maybe polystyrene. Last year I had a screw back out and fall out, and one of the cover plates cracked. E-mailed Z1R, and they sent me screws, a new visor and a new cover plate. This year, the head of a screw actually sheared off, allowing the cover plate to come off and disappear; then a couple of weeks ago the visor broke - the ratcheting mechanism is co-molded of the same crappy plastic onto the clear visor. I had the visor they sent me last year, and I got a side cover from a local shop, so I'm good for now but I wouldn't buy another one.

I almost had the same problem with my ZR1. The screws holding the visor vibrated loose and one almost came out. Although the screws are strong enough to do their intended job of holding the visor, I worried that they might break if I tightened them enough that so they would not come loose again. So I put them in just tight enough to hold the visor firmly and covered them with small pieces of color matched vinly tape to keep them from backing out again. Problem solved. So far they have stayed put and the tape is almost invisible. All in all, I really like this helmet.
