He!  I'm from Canada but my brother is stationed in Colorado Springs.  I was thinking of heading down there sometime this summer.  Any cool rides/roads I should know about?

Do Pike's Peak.  That's a great ride.  It's so great, you'll want to do it every day!  Don't fall off the mountain...there's no guardrails!  Stay at the Red Wing Motel in Manitou Springs.  Take the kids to Santa Land, Cave of the Winds, and do some trout fishing.  The zoo is pretty cool on Cheyenne Mountain and you'll like the Garden of the Gods Trading Post.  I recommend you have a buffalo burger there.

What else you wanna know?

Thanks!  Looks good...read about it and they have a car race and people race up but no bandit race...have to look into getting one going!  Is that it for the neat stuff?

I was there a couple years ago.  Fluorissant Fossil Beds would be a good ride, sicne then you can walk the fossil beds.  Also, up to Cripple Creek (she sends me) where they have these freaky little casinos. Almost any route up into the mountains.  Garden of the Gods is GREAT at sunrise...all the birds and rabbits are out and the light on the rocks in amazing.

Well, in the summer...

But you're used to that since you live farther north.

Man, this colorado board is dead, eh?  Sven and Des, we could use it for our own private hangout!

Seriously, though, i visited my bro last year in CO and really loved the climate.  Apparently, their winters are okay.  They get a bit of snow but then it's gone quick and you can zoom off on your two wheeler.

We were at the end of a long journey so i never saw anything there - just kinda in and out.  My old suzuki savage was getting tired so i wanted to get home quick.

This time i'll see some sights.

My bro' is big time into army and has two teenage sons.  You can extrapolate from there.  I KNOW he doesn't want them interested in anything with two wheels.  should be fun...

I lived in the Springs as a kid... my little sister was born at the USAF Academy's hospital. (Dad was the Marine Corps recruiter for the CS area at the time.) Been back thru there a few times since then.

Lots of good roads, but if you're jetted for sea level, you may find your too rich at the 6000'+ elevations of the roads there.

Royal Gorge is another cool spot to visit.

So Jim are you passing through Montana by chance?

I don't think so, Nacho - it's too bad because I love futurama as well!  I watch it with my teenagers and they're laughing at one level while I'm laughing at another (probably lower!).

From London, Ontario I'm going to head pretty much due southwest to Austin, Texas, cuz I want to ride around in that hill country around there i've heard so much about.  then swing up to colorado springs and then slightly northeast back up home.

I'm not sure about the timeline but i've done the run from my brother's in colorado springs to home in a very long two days...just about killed me on an old cruiser!  Those winds were something else!

I have a bit of a connection to montana as i used to teach in a tiny place called Manyberries just over the border in Alberta, Canada.  I looked at the 'three sisters' hills in montana every day from my classroom window!  Beautiful!!

We've stopped in Billings quite a few times running back and forth.  We really loved Montana and the people always seemed to go out of their way for us!

You going on any big runs this summer?

We will see.. I would like to ride from Billings up to Polson and flathead lake, its about a 6 1/2 hour drive.  Not sure if I will be riding the entire way or not but I guess we will just have to see if my butt is conditioned enough for that length or ride.
Well if you ever do make it back to Billings give a shout.  My buddy has the red and white B4 but other than him and I, I havent seen another Bandit of any size.
Oh and so you know, I am probably not much older than your teenagers, I myself am heading toward the big 2 1 in a few months.

Congrats!  That's what's so neat about a BBS.  I yammer back and forth with a guy and then find out I'm old enough to be his dad!   But I swear I'm young at heart!

Saw a CO board, and had to check in.
I'm up in Ft. Collins, about to acquire a '99 B6 tonight. Got a friend who's heading back home overseas, so he had to dump his bike. I got a hell of a deal on it. It'll be my first bike, I've had all my gear and license, and MSF course for a while now, its nice to finally be putting it all to use!

We have some great roads in the surrounding area, and of course all the roads up in the mountains. I'd love to run up to Estes Park after I get some mileage under my belt.

Surely there's at least a few CO members...Speak up!
Glad I found this place, I'll be hanging around a good bit now :)

Right on, Ben, welcome!  Is Fort Collins close to Colorado Springs?  I was just around there last summer but can't remember it.

Heya Jim!
the Fort is about 2 hours north of the Springs, up near the Wyoming border. There's some great wide open country up here.
From the springs, hwy24 will take you pretty much anywhere in the mountains. I've heard great things about the Top of the World ride, but dont know details on it, other than its really high, and somewhere around here! lol...but yeah, mountains are good things
