I am looking to get a ride group started in this area I know there are lots of Bandits out there in this area because I see yall all the time. I am located in Jonesboro ARK. thats North East corner of the state. About one hour from Memphis TN. We have some good roads over here in ARK. we could start off planning a New years Day Ride (depending on weather some might call it a polar bear ride!) If someone wants to plan a ride sooner thats fine with me!

I'm about 15min East of Collierville (30min E of Memphis). I'd be up for riding as well.

No, I'm not a MSSR-er. I met up with them once, but they ride a little more aggressively than I do. I'm not afraid of going fast, but most of these two-lane curvy side roads are full of driveways and cars that stray across the double-yellow, and if you are riding past your ability to stop, you are riding past your ability, regardless of how low you can lean.

I have a friend (Rick) that rides with the mid south sport riders. He had a Yamaha R1 but after he rode it for nearly 50,000miles he sold it and he is now riding his wifes SV650 and he is still one of the craziest, fastest, motorcycle riding nuts around, this guy could out run me on a 250cc. I can stay close on the straight rodes but in the curves man this guy is fearless. I thought I was at least an average or little above average rider but these memphis sport bike dudes are fast! Lets keep talking up a ride and see how many people respond and in a couple of weeks we can firm up a time.

I've ridden a few times with the MSSR, and probably will again, but I usually hang near the back for the same reasons you mention. I agree, most of them do ride crazy-fast especially for the roads. Rick on the SV is one of them... he outrides the liter bikes all day long on his SV.
They're ok to ride with, but I'm looking for people who like to ride a bit more of a sport-touring ride. They'll usually run >100miles at breakneck speeds on a Saturday, while I like to ride 200+ mile rides at moderate speeds (>15-20mph over speed limit).

Well if you're ever interested in meetin' up, shoot me an email totes7 at yahoo dot com. I don't plan too many rides but am usually up for an impromtu trip. Most of my rides consist of thinking Friday at lunch I would like to ride to X location, then I'm off on Sat. My brother rides a SecaII and he's usually goes along as well. I work normal bus hours 8:30-5:30 M-F.
But to stay on topic, I'm up for this ride as long as it's not snowing. (Though I have ridden in snow on a Ninja250r ... not exactly enjoyable with the visor freezing shut every 10mins.)

It sounds like we all ride about the same, Good deal! I like to give it a little gas every now and then, But I dont like the rides that end up at the Hospital, waiting on a friend to see if he is going to make it. (I have spent several hours in waiting rooms, because some one was showing off, on more than one occasion. I used to ride a whole lot faster but I have seen to many accidents and it has slowed me down quite a bit. I want to live to Ride another day!

A couple of us in Dyersburg are trying to put together a Nov. 6th ride that will include a stop at Pattie's at the top of the Trace at LBL (2 inch pork chops). Let us know if you are interested.

Trace = Route thru the park not to be confused with the Natchez Trace, sorry.

Oh ho! Secret Dyerbsurg code!
On a summer Saturday where it'd be warm and light, I'd be in with no 2nd thoughts.
At this time of year, the trip is a weak "maybe" for me. Memphis adds about 180 miles to the round-trip, making the day about 500 miles. A long day of riding, getting home after dark, and then having to be at work at 7AM on Monday makes this a little harder. I sure would like to see some fall foliage.
I wonder if I could meet ya'll somewhere up at the park rather than setting out from D'burg?

Not a problem. I'll give you a cell number as plans firm up and the date gets closer. As far as the distance issue goes, if you can't do this ride, we will be making some other rides this fall/winter closer to you. Love to have you along. I ride with some great guys. We sometimes ride a brisk but always sane pace and I think we always are sensitive to who's along and how the ride should be conducted. I think anybody would be comfortable riding with us. There is one buddy of mine that is VERY fast and recently did his first WERA race and we usually just let him go out of sight if hes feeling frisky but he always stops ahead and waits - no problem.
Uh,,,,,sorry if I hi-jacked the thread. Love to meet up with Jonesboro sometime. We know there are some great roads over there. :bigok:

I might be interested on a Nov 6th Ride. Depending on the weather. That would be a LONG RIDE! if it was 35 and Raining. but it might be 70 and dry. who knows? Keep all of us informed and if we cant make this one, maybe the next time.

If the weather is good, yall Memphis area Riders could come on over and take a ride with us! I realize that if the weather is bad the One hour trip from Memphis to Jonesboro and then the ride back home, would be miserable, but if its nice weather come on over!
