Title: Blue Ridge Parkway Detours
Post by: FreediverGa on February 04, 2006, 09:54:41 PM
Does anyone know if they still have two sections of the Parkway detoured because of road repairs to some storm damage and washed out road from the hurricanes last year?  If so where do they detour through?

According to the NPS @ http://www.nps.gov/blri/:

Two short sections of the Parkway are closed for road and tunnel repair. Milepost 317-325 south of Linville Falls, and Milepost 344-355 north of Mount Mitchell State Park will remain closed throughout the winter. Access to Mount Mitchell is still available from the Asheville area. Weather-related closures may also be in effect and are updated daily at the park information line, (828) 298 0398

I've seen that but that post has been up for over a year now!  They also said that the repairs would only take a year to complete aswell!

Well, you could call the number they list and see if it has more info.

According to my MS Streets & Trips, there were no detours.
