higher lift than stock b4 cams $200.00 shipping included anywhere in the US and Canada
-
200.00 a set that is! :stickpoke:
-
GSXR4, what kind of performance increase can one expect from just the cams?
-
they let it rev better all i can say is i ran the b4 cams in my spare motor and had to take them out and put my gsxr 4 cams in cause it just seemed like something was holding it back! compared to when i had the gixxer motor all together. In case everyone doent knoww i run a stock b4 salvage motor that i did a valve job and re rung it milled the cyclinder 10thousanths and put my gixxer cams in it! have raced it for 2 years now and seem to be almost ready for new rings.
-
around 5 hp increase from stock b4 cams
-
come on someone want to go faster and also support my racing habit I have 5 sets all together i thought id share the wealth and HP .
-
time them just like the b4 cams! No clearance issues! more hp no low end problems!
-
Somebody snatch up these cams before I get into trouble. I'd be all over 'em, but if I buy any more parts for the bike I'll be sleeping on the couch!
-
I think those two PA B4 boys need cams...

Paul, you shouldn't have. My birthday isn't 'til December!
-
If I get mine started soemtime soon I'll take a set. I still need to find out if the bike even runs at all. Waiting for carb parts. Emptied the oil - LOADED with gas, not a good sign.

Could just be a bad petcock that was allowing gas into the motor. Hopefully they didn't run it like that!
-
Actually I'm not sure how they were running it. The fuel tank doesnt have a cap (no vacuum) there is no choke cable or even a housing for it (the round part on the end of the high/low beam/horn switch).
So I have no idea how they even got the thing to run.
ANybody have a clue?
-
The fuel tank doesn't actually need a cap to run. Basically the fuel is gravity fed into the carburators, the petcock is turned 'on' by a vacuum line that runs from it to the intake manifold.
The petcock is basically a vacuum operated switch. Apply vacuum and fuel flows via gravity, remove vacuum and fuel stops. At least, thats what is supposed to happen. Most of these old petcocks leak now, be it because of worn seals or torn diaphrams. Two ways to fix this a leaky petcock.
Add an in-line fuel shutoff (assuming fuel isn't actually leaking back down the petcock vacuum feed, which it can do).
Replace the fuel petcock.
-
IF I ever get the bike running and it doesnt need major mechanical work I'll probably just put a Pingel petcock on instead of teh stock one.
Thats a big "if" :boohoo:
-
thats what i run a pingel ! the petcock would run on prime and even if it leaked the carbs should shut the gas off if the float needles where good and the orings in the carbs where tight so there for id replace those orings
-
O-rings I replaced already, just waiting t=for the stupid little ones that go on top of the carb body above, under the little rubber cap that you use to sych the carbs with. They were cracked & brittle.
Is there a secret to installing the throttle cable? I went to innstall and there is not enough room between the carb bodies to fit the adjusting bolt & nut for them to sit in the holder on the carbs. It almost looks like you have to split the carbs in the center, install the throttle cable then put the carbs back together.
Any secrets?
The thread has gotten a little off topic (sorry)
-
Here's the trick I use for installing the throttle cable. Every other way I've tried involved an hour of four letter words.
It's easiest to do with the carbs not attached to the intake.
1. Install the end of the cable on the throttle tube.
2. Put a little bit of grease on the cable end that attaches to the carbs.
3. When the cable end that attaches to the carbs goes in part way (usually sideways and all messed up), all you have to do LIGHTLY twist the throttle and the cable end should snap perfectly into place. Keyword is lightly, the throttle tube is plastic and can break (yes, I know from experience).

Jay, is the power increase all on the top end or does it help pull more at lower RPM as well? Does it help that mid range flat spot at all?
-
all across the board , the flat spot is not as bad but i think thats one of those things that is just inharet of these motors.
My Notify thing has not been working lately for this site sorry for the delays in reply

Well, it looks like I may be investing some $$ in a new stator/generator. We'll see where I'm at financially when I come out on the other end, I may be interested in a set if they're still left. Doesn't help that I had to infuse some $$ into my computer recently (last place I want to spend my money).

i have stators to!
-
Jay, how much is a stator?
-
98.95 new plus shipping or 50.00 for a used one garateed to work or ill send ya a new one ,plus shipping
-
Jay, I'll contact you mid-week, once I make sure the stator is the problem. What type of payment do you prefer?
-
paypal it the only way to go! 3 yellow wires continuity yellow to ground no continuity!
-
I love PayPal. Greatest invention since sliced bread. Initial test showed AC voltage output was fine, but as bike warmed up the voltage output dropped. Shop is going to retest to confirm this.
-
cool
-
Jay, I sent a PM your way.
-
i'd buy one too but spent my years bike budget on race tech already
maybe next year if there are any left?
:thanks: for offering them to us
-
Ok, I'll have one more project very soon.
-
Hey Jay, still got those GSXR cams?
What kind of condition are they in? I'm supposing they are used, are they still in tolerance? Would I be better off just installing two intake cams (or is it two exhaust cams?)?
Let me know
Also, still have any of those GSXR400 boxes laying about that you'd like to drop off cheap? I know you said they wouldn't fire the Bandit, but my mechanic thinks he may have some ideas on that.
Whats the possibility of finding an aftermarker header that'll bolt right on without changing the oil pan (IE: No GSXR400 header)?
Yeah... as you can see, the project is back on.

Yeah... as you can see, the project is back on.
So you're keeping the bike? That's great news!
-
Yeah, my mechanic in Orlando (racer and professional race-bike engine builder) told me, "You can't sell this bike"
Oh, Jay, he also said if you can get him a GSXR400 he'd buy it off you. Most interested in that!

You might find yourself on the CRF50 more then your little guy. Tons of great mods to make the CRF50 a big boys toy (get a sano frame kit!!). Hard on the pocket book though. My buddy is right addicted to his fiddy. If the bandit wasn't absorbing all of my free cash, I'd pick one up.
-
Heres the specs on the cams :
B4 stock cams
Intake lobe height 32.84mm
exhaust lobe height 32.54mm
Gsxr 400 stock cams
Intake 33.10mm
exhaust 32.75mm

Ah, ok, those aren't -too- wild...
How worn are the cams? I don't really want to stick worn out cams on my bike, that wouldn't help at all.
-
they all measure what i just posted!
-
And i would never try to sell junk the reprocusion are way worse !

Got my box of goodies yesterday. It may be a while before I get a chance to install, but I'll let you know how it goes.
-
ANY WORD ON HOW THOSE CAMS ARE WORKING YET? :stickpoke:
-
At the moment, no news other than I dropped them off on Friday at the shop in Orlando. My mechanic and I decided to get the Chassis mods taken care of before we tackle an engine that is running OK.
So the goal for the next two weeks is to get the new Front End mounted and fully setup, new tires, and possibly mount that FOX racing shock I picked up.
After that we'll be tackling the engine.
Yeah, we're taking our time on it. It's a low priority bike at his shop, most of the others are race-prep bikes who are spending big bucks. They are cutting me some price breaks, and in return I'm letting him work on the bike when he has the time. Truth of it is, if we sat down and did all the work we could have it done in probally a week but I wouldn't be able to pay for it.
We're both looking forward to seeing some dyno pulls with the motor.
Once I get her back she'll still be ugly as shit, but she should go like stink to match!
-
"You can't see it if you're riding it"
-
here ya go another 2 sets of gsxr 400 cams just for you b4 guys! same price as above (first page) :stickpoke:
-
bump 2 sets still for sale!
-
Hey man,
Don't happen to know the valve lift with these cams, do you? According to my manual, .24" is stock on both the intake and exhaust side for the GSF400 cams. I keep coming up with values between .246 and .247 for the GSXR cams using my 'guesstimath'.
Unfortunatly, while those are possibly close enough, I have no idea what the timings are.
GSF400 Stock
IVO : 46 degrees
IVC : 66 degrees
EVO : 64 degrees
EVC : 24 degrees
GSXR400
IVO : ??
IVC : ??
EVO : ??
EVC : ??
-
no i dont , i just put them in like the bandit ones! it will be months before i ever slap a degree wheel on and check so my suggestion is put them in and run them ! JUST LIKE THE BANDIT 400!
-
oh, yeah, understand that. I just wanted the numbers to plug into my Dyno software so I can guesstimate what I should be producing.

-
last set spoken for! thanks mate! will let ya all know when i find some more! thanks jay :stickpoke:
