Well, I took the bike out on the freeway this weekend. Brought it up to 115 mph @12k rpm... I think I ran it low on gas cause it stoped running when I exited...Started it back up and was running really erratically, low idle, only thing I adjusted was the idle speed knob. Then realized it was way low on gas...filled up with premium just in case....but still runs like crap until I get up around 4k rpm... What do ya'll think it might be?
-
clogged pilot jets from the typical red rusty dust that seems to accumilate in the tanks after awhile.
-
does that sea foam stuff work for that problem?
-
good old take the carbs off and clean.
-
check the float needles too and make sure they are clear.
-
I agree, you probably picked up some crap out of the bottom of the tank. I'd certainly try seafoam or techron b/f tearing into the carbs but that's probably what it'll take.
-
im just anti anything that might hurt any of the rubber in the carbs!
-
I'm with Jay, no substitute for a good old cleaning
-
Dang you got it to 115? I could never get it past 110. But you are probably lighter than me.
Sorry to hear you are having troubles. Did you get the seals fixed yet?
-
have the seals...just haven't installed them yet...yeah i think i might have blown the muffler out on that high speed run cause its really loud now...still has some hesitation until around 5k, might need to let the tank run its course...did the r/r check and it seems fine, just kinda flickers the lights on the freeway...
