Hi I'm new to the forums and a new Bandit owner. I did some searching on the forums to see if anyone had posted a list of what engines from what years would fit a 1991 Bandit. I couldn't find any clear answers though. I was given the bike at a few days ago, knowing it needed an engine. Apparently the original owner missed a shift and broke a connecting rod and now there's a rather large hole in the engine. I've found a 1992 engine on Ebay for a price I would be willing to pay, and I've found an engine from the parts wanted list on here that I would be even happier to buy. I don't know what year the engine on here is however. So if anyone could advise me on what year engines will fit a 91 I'd be very greatful. Thanks in advance.

Been there, done that. Hope not to do it again.
All B4 engines will fit, just the 93's have a different cam and CDI setup versus 91-92 (tuned differently, doesn't mean incompatible). Should all be plug and play.

Thanks for the info, I'm excited to hear it. I'm sure I'll be back for lots more information and probably more parts. I don't think the bike has run since 94ish, at least thats the year on the tags. I don't have a motorcycle license yet, so a project is fine with me, just hope to get it running and road ready for next summer.

The variable value (VC) engine and standard uk b4 engine are not the same.
Is your bike a import?
I have a spare engine here that is up for sale.

Yep, VVC frame is different so the engine will not fit a standard B4. The others are ok but theres two different cdi/trigger combos, so if it missfires aftre changing the engine swop the trigger from your old motor and it should be good. :thumb:

Forgot about the VVC bikes that you guys across the pond got.

I don't think it's an Import, but I can't say for sure. I also don't know if its a standard B4 or a VVT. New to motorcycles so I'm not really sure what I'm looking at.
Edit: I don't think its a VVT since it doesn't have the red valve covers

The import model has 2 front break discs and the uk model has one.

Thanks again. I believe the bike has the single disc, I'll check later today. I live in the US, I think we also got the single disc bike. I could also check the wiring from the CDI, for the extra green wire with white tracer, correct?
