Hi all I was wondering if anyone had info on installing a 400 motor into a 250 frame :thanks:
-
NO! but i bet your electrics would work measure some of the spaces between motor mounts and im sure we could tell ya if it fits! :stickpoke:

The question's been asked here many times, but so far, I don't think any 250 owner has ever scraped up the cash to give it a go.
I'm of the understanding the 250 & 400 share the same frame & bodywork - and depending on the market, many other bits. From looking at the pics, the 250's lump looks more like a 400 than the 600 looks like the 1200 and those two will swap with each other (600 to 1200 or 1200 to 600). Just a GUESS on my part, but I'm pretty sure the 250 & 400 will interchange with each other.
Since we get no 250's in the US, most of us Yanks have never even seen a B250.

cheers for that guys i'm going to be attempting it within the next 6 mths so ill let you know how it goes. I have a feeling locating the parts is going to be the difficult part
-
If you end up doing it, then take some pics to document the work. I'm sure some 250 owners now and in the future would appreciate it.
-
Yeah, do it! Do it now.

just priced the motor there are some on ebay but im in oz so shipping is a bit expensive!!! howevere i have found some here at the local wreakers they slot right in as far as my measuring is concerned so all that is left is to fork out the dosh and away we go. wish me luck!!!!!!!

the frames are identical, so its a drop in, you need the loom and cdi etc from the 400 too.
We're currently in negotiations with a buddy who has a non running 89 gsxr400 to get his engine to put in my 250 frame to make it a bit of a sleeper.
He seems to have taken a shine to the gixxer though and doesnt want to give it up.

sorry to revive such an old post, but there are new developements
we're picking up the gsxr400 next weekend, and will be attempting the swap over the next couple of months.
I'll be documenting it with pics, and i'll invariably be here to pick people brains for ideas along the way.
