Title: 400 vv engine - worth swapping to?
Post by: Brit-400 on May 21, 2006, 10:48:38 AM
Hi all. My engine has in the past been abused (by myself  ) and is a little rattly and missing 2nd gear. Oops.

Anyway, there is a Bandit 400 'VV' engine for sale near by at not a bad price.  How would you rate the VV in comparison to the std 400 engine? Cant find any specs so know nothing about how it compares.

If i were to buy it, what would i need from the donor bike to get it runnnig regarding loom/conrol box etc?

Thanks in advance. :)

EDIT; Oh, and is it just the cylinder head thats different on the vv mocel? Ta! :beers:

YES just the head and maybe the cdi

I would just find a gsxr400 gk73 engine, the VV will give you more low and mid range! Cheers

6th gear is different as well. The bike also has 15 mm less ground clearance than a non-VV model  Maybe because of the exhaust?

and the vv engine uses a diffrent frame to the non vv b4

I know ive just tried and on the front mount rails they are cut away to clear the vv bit .
