10000 rpm and no more
« on: March 26, 2006, 06:19:46 PM »
i have a 1997 bandit
which has developed a strange problem
its the one with the variable cam chain timing
at 10000rpm the enging misses and loses power
i change up a gear it powers off again then at 10000 the same thing
happens which is really annoying
ive taken it to 4 mechanics
the last one a suzuki specialist
who had it for 4 weeks working on it in his spare time
and couldnt resolve the problem
reset the valves clean carbs jets coils
nothing worked
can anyone help
please

Hay mate, sorry to hear about the little predicament you are in  , what condition are the plugs in when you pulled them? It almost sounds as if she is running either rich or lean (not sure which) which in turn says to me that perhaps one or more of the main jets has failed. Sorry I can't be more specific I am reallt just groping in the dark, but check em out by doing a plug test and see what you come up with.

Oh and don't forget to keep us posted.

thanks for your reply
i dont know much about bikes myself
doing an oil change is about as far as it goes for me
unfortunately

the jets have been looked at apparently
as for the state of the plugs
i dont know
but they have been changed
ive tracked down the importer of the bike
in brisbane
they also suggested the main jet failure
or a cdi unit problem
they dont work on bikes normaly
but
theyve taken pity on me i think
theyve agreed to swap the cdi unit for one they have
and not charge me for the work just the unit
fingers crossed
theres some good people out there eh
to any one who reads this
they are wrecking two bandits
if anyone needs parts
i know they are hard to get bits for
ill post the details if anyone needs them
(hands of the cdi though)
thanks again

see ya

all that shit
and it turned out to be the wrong air filter
the 250 bandit needs an airfilter with a plastic sleeve inside it
see my post wrecking parts for bandit
for the full explanation

ITS RESTRICTED
« Reply #4 on: July 30, 2006, 11:25:10 AM »
all jap imports are restricted to 111mph, it sounds crazy that they would restrict the 250 because they are not that fast, but i fink they left the restrictor in from the 400

mine does the exact same thing, go to BAT MOTORCYCLES, £71 will sort it out

The 112mph limiter is not usually a rev limiter

And there's no way you could get 112mph in any gear at 10,000rpm on the 250!

i said tht u couldnt get 112mph, but the bike is limitted to that, and you can get it is through the revs uim afraid
