There are two little o-rings that go on the tubular parts of the float assembly. Of particular importance is the larger of the two, the one that is located on the part that holds the float valve. That float valve in conjunction with the float controls the amount of fuel that flows into the float bowl.

If that larger o-ring is broken or doesn't fit snugly into its orifice, then fuel will leak around it and into the float bowl causing flooding problems. It basically allows the fuel to bypass its proper path through the float valve.

So, it should be pretty snug when pressing it in there. This is a common problem on bandit 400's. EIther bad o-rings causing leakage and flooding, or bits of dreck getting into the float valve and holding it open causing flooding.

The other end, the smaller end, I don't know what that is frankly... choke pickup tube perhaps? It's probably not as critical as the first, though it should do its job of sealing as well.

hope that helps.
