You can try to jack up the bike, by using a shorter dog bone or simply drill a hole slightly above your existing dog bones, it will increase the ground clearance.

I have tried riding a bandit that is jack up, drilled slighlty above the existing dogbone hole method, and I don't like the new geometry of the bike, I have to tip toe when the bike is at standstill, I'm 5FT10. And the drive chain has to be loosen to a great extent because after jack up the chain is too tight and there is a squeaky sound from the rear shock when going over the humps.

I was wondering how the hell you'd scrape that unless you were log-hopping but the wheelie thing makes sense.

Huh?  I don't see how that's possible.  I looks like the peg would scrape WAY before you got to the collector (then the brake lever depending on where you have it adjusted and then maybe even the clutch cover before the pipe).

You're obviously not new to bikes.  How does the front end feel to you?  You must be compressing the hell out of the forks in the turn.

yeah ive been riding for quite a while, the forks do compress a bit but not overly so (unless i hit some bumps while braking hard and they bottom out) other wise they feel good (for what they are anyway). i will get a pic when i get home. it didnt hapn with the old tyres but with the extra lean angle i can obtain with the powers it is a factor. i prob took 2mm of metal off it yesterday. not worries bout the side stand though as at least it has a bit of give.

Just my $.02 but it seems you've got suspension issues.  I have race compound M1s on.  My chicken strips are abt 1/16th of an inch and I ain't scraping anything.  I also don't think I've bottomed out the front.

I'm going to go with Rob on this, sounds like you have suspension problems! My 400 had a completly blown left front shock seal, so all the fluid leaked out. The right front is iffy. I never, once, had any scraping going on.

The only time my exhaust has scraped the ground was during a lowside... even then it barely touched and only on the can. Sounds like you might need to go on a diet or get your suspension checked.

lol, diet. i weigh 75kgs (160 or so pounds). i will try putting in a heavier weight fork oil and see how that goes.

If the bike is still running on the original rear shock, it may have deteriorated or too soft for some ppl, that will cause the collector to scrape when going over tall humps.

Either upgrade to a better rear shock or go for the cheaper mod on the dog bone.

Somehow after jack up, the bike will look taller and sportier which looks like the honda hornet250.  :bigok:

Make new ones with the holes closer together. I don't know about the B4, but most OEM dogbones don't have enough meat in them to drill anywhere else... which is why they're nicknamed "dog bones."

You have to gauge for yourself, try not to drill too close or too far from the original hole on the dog bone.

I used to scrap on the track with right hand turns. It was the collector not the pegs.  first time it freaked me out. I don't recall my V&H scraping.  I had a 91 and was racing in 93. I had some upgraded front springs and stock rear shock.
Title: too low

If you are having problem with the suspension,I am surprised that if you are bottoming out, that you have not notice that when you sit on it you sink pretty low. and that when you ride and  hit a bump on the road your bike continues to bounce around like a pogo stick. I had a shock go bad on me and those were the symptoms. However I never had the pipe hit the ground in the area that you discribe. I think that before you begin to drill your dog bones and posibly make the bike unsafe. Just go with a newer shock and you will for sure get a better ride. Do you hit the ground when you turn either direction? And didn't you say that you had a friend who was selling you a 04 shock? beleive me the newer gsxr shocks are the best for that little B4. I love it on mine. :beers:
