Title: B4 is dead
Post by: pyro_ on June 01, 2012, 12:57:23 PM
So went out this morning to drive to work and the B4 started fine and i left it to warm up while i got my gear on inside since it was raining.  got back to the bike and went to get on but just before i could do that is completly died and by that i mean not even any lights are on it.  Turned off the key and turned it back on still no lights and no starting.  I have let it sit for a couple of hours and tried again still the same thing.

Any thoughts on what it might be or things to check?

Thanks, looks like that is the one, looks like it is somewhat melted.  must have been from when i had my charging issues last week and it was over charging and it is now just chatching up.  Will change the fuze and hopefully that will do it

Question could having a partially blown fuze cause and under charging issue?

If you put too many amps through it for a long period of time it could've caused it to overheat and melt, leaving it intact, but with a change of it's resistance. I'd get it swapped asap, and go from there. Make sure your charger isn't one of too higher output.

Just swaped it out a few minutes ago and the bike is alive again and it would appear that the charging issue is fixed as it is charging at about 13.7V

The RR was swaped out for a brand new suzuki one as it was charging at 18V before the RR was swaped out.  Going to keep an eye on it for a bit and see what happens but at least it would appear to be fine right now

Hey Pyro,

Looks like you got it sorted while I was looking for this post, but in the event that it blows again, this thread may give some troubleshooting insight:

that's exactly what brought me into the thread too.  So I guess on that note,.. great choice of a title pyro!  You got some looks you might not have otherwise. :)

Pyro, the other thing I was going to mention,  keep an eye on that charging system with the Electrosport link in my signature.  It saved me a small fortune on the B4.  (Luckily *touch wood* I haven't had to use it on the Hondas yet)
