Still I doubt that will protect you from anything else than a really low speed and low impact crash.

They make them to order so you're waiting regardless.

I went to order a set two or three years ago and they told me it would be a couple of weeks as they don't stock them. Wish I did as the exchange rate is better now but nowhere near as good as it was back then.

As for crash worthiness: I have no idea but considering when I did drop my bike and I repaired (IE JB Welded) my engine case, they would have helped (low speed slide). Now if it's a 75mph slide on a highway, I think they'd be useless and worn through but you'd have bigger things to worry about.

My $$.02

still, taking initial impact forces and the high speed . . .

would they not help that way ?

Have you ever seen how thick a clutch cover/generator cover are? They're pretty damn thin, they're sand cast aluminum afterall. Tap them with a screwdriver and you'll see what I mean.

The armour basically is a shell of carbon fiber gooped onto the case with adhesive to stick it into place. Although it can distribute some force, it's not as good as purpose-built cases designed thicker and stronger to withstand the impact. Look up Woodcraft cases for GSXR's and you'll see what I mean or even NRC covers for the B12. Makes me wish we had the alternative.

As far as high speed goes: carbon fibre is basically fiberglass on crack. It'll hold up but will eventually wear through. Like I said, if you're getting off at that speed, you've got bigger problems.

It's certainly better than nothing and with crash bobbins can increase survivability in the event of a shunt. They're still on my radar but I'm going to have a friend weld some aluminum pucks to a spare set of cases "just in case". It'll cost me much less as well.

Is there any other case saving option? I've been looking at the bike for a while tring to figure out a good option......I dont really see a good way to do it other than the covers and frame sliders.

Frame sliders and a half moon chunk on ally welded to the bottom of the covers (this is whats on mine find a pic if you can maybe here or bike pics) or if your handy weld small chunk then tap then whittle a piece of delrin down to your favorite shape drill , counter sink then screw in place... dam what a visionary!! :stickpoke:

that motor had 130-140 psi compression and milled about 10 thou. stock pistons 3 valve jobs had been re ringed 3 times and tons of track miles and the bandit transmission/gearing that makes 1st useless unlike the gsxr400 sp Gear box....it was cool i was dragging my knee on the exit at the end and just doing a loop over and over i had the most passes that day
